It’s sad, but Utah will struggle mightly this season and I don’t see an avenue for Utah basketball to be relevant for a very long time in the Big-12. It will take a very special coach who can out pace their expected win totals consistently, is an incredible recruiter, and major NIL money.

The thing is entitled kids is an issue for all schools, not just Utah. It’s an adjustment for coaching staffs to figure out how to navigate it. Are Ute Fans really that bent on the Smith’s and BYU NIL? Or is it just what Twitter Ute fans are reacting to? I honestly don’t hear much from Ute fans outside of Twitter on the issue and Twitter Ute fans are both an extremely small percentage of us and they are the worst fans of any fans of any team any where.

The portal giveth and the portal taketh away. I think we all expect a large exodus this off season, but hopefully the coaches can find some great talent as well.

I get what you are saying, but I disagree. I think it’s precisely our hard nosed, physical style of play that won us two P12 championships and was the key to our growth and success these last 20 years. The Utes physical play was often the great equalizer against teams with more talent.

I’d love it if he stayed. He’s awesome, despite our frustrations of the last two seasons.

That said, I think he retires after this season.

Why anyone would leave the NFL for college in today’s environment is beyond me. Coaching the college game today is way worse than.cosching the NFL.

It’s not the only thing, but they did a great job prepping for Utah during their bye week.

This is one of the negatives of NIL and paying players. It changes the player- fan dynamic
