  • It would have been over on Saturday night but for TDS fans like Ted Lasso and Matt parachuting in here every couple of hours to continually stir the pot. Personally, I’ve never been to or posted on a BYU board but they feel it’s OK to come to hostile territory and start arguments. Simple as that…Many people here have been telling them…[Read more]

  • Well, the Devil went down to Utah
He was lookin’ for a soul to steal
He was in a bind ’cause he was way behind
And he was willing to make a deal
When he came across this old man
Watching some film tape and getting hot
And the Devil jumped up on a hickory stump
And said “Man, let me tell you what”

  • If that’s true, then Utah got ripped off…no way, no how I even consider a deal unless it comes with multiple national championships attached and eternal blue blood status. I would also have asked he who shall remain nameless to make the PAC eternal…so if that deal was made, then he’s laughing all the way to the bank.

Oh no…we definitely know what should have happened. That’s a sack on Retzlaff and an Utah win. At the end of the day, all BYU did is postpone irrelevance for one more week. Your program reminds me of those mediocre boxers who only fought palookas so they could have an undefeated record when they faced Tyson for box office purposes but then get…[Read more]

That’s a barefaced lie and you know it. Retzlaff had maybe two seconds from the point the ball was snapped to the time he got sacked. It was a blown up play by the defense that never had a chance. In addition, the WR never even attempted to look back at the ball because the route tree was designed for him to get the ball much further down the…[Read more]

  • Bernie Carbo….I still remember him hitting that HR in Gmae 6 versus Rawley Eastwick…one of the most iconic HRs in WS history. And then came Pudge in extra innings…

  • Yeah, I’ll be 60 in a few months…I still remember Florida pulling their “Gator Flop” in the Orange Bowl. You ought to look that up if you want to see the definition of lack of class and sportsmanship. Can you imagine a team just lying down on a play and letting the other team score intentionally so that they could get another possession and…[Read more]

Yeah, an Irish Catholic kid from New Jersey…I’m sure you did…how about the other Irish Catholic kid, Clay Brown? I’m sure he also followed the Honor Code.

Rick, thanks for those insights. Much appreciated.

  • The Miami Ute replied to the topic I'm Not From Utah or LDS in the forum Football 2 weeks ago

I get that…but what about if the recruit isn’t LDS? Rick Walker just mentioned that only two percent of the students there aren’t LDS. Wouldn’t BYU have to way, way overpay to get some non-LDS kid to go there (or maybe some Jack Mormom kid as well)?

  • Because Nebraska has been irrelevant since they got dismantled by Miami in the 2002 Rose Bowl while Oregon has been in the mix, in some way or other, since Phil Knight (who’s worth around $35B) started directly funding them. That’s never changing now. They also have the wealthiest NIL collective in Division Street and can outbid any team in the…[Read more]

You mean it’s not enforced on athletes?

  • You’re a poet and don’t even know it. You’ve expertly encapsulated the reasons why being in the Big 12 does nothing for me. It’s really nothing personal against the schools, it’s that I liked taking road trips to Seattle, or Oregon, or the Bay Area, or LA and it wasn’t just about the game but the actual destinations where the games took place.…[Read more]

  • Dude, I’m from Miami and went to the University of Miami…the Hurricanes’ real rival are the Gators, which is a rivalry that dates from the early 40s or well before FSU even existed. It was played every year until 1987 when it stopped because the Gators got tired of losing to the Canes. I would equate that rivalry to the Utah vs BYU rivalry…[Read more]

  • Can someone explain to me why a highly touted Utah prep player would prefer playing for BYU versus Utah? Isn’t BYU’s so-called “Code of Honor” an impediment for college-age students? I know that, not coming from an LDS background, that there’s no way that, as an 18 year old, I’d have any interest going to that school. In addition to that, if…[Read more]

Blue Bloods (And others like them) Record This Season:

    1. USC: 4-5/2-5 in CONF
    2. Michigan: 5-5/3-4 in CONF
    3. Washington: 5-5/3-4 in CONF
    4. FSU: 1-9/1-7 in CONF
    5. Nebraska: 5-4/2-4 in CONF

Looks like a few other bigtime programs with more massive investments are doing just as bad or worse than Utah.

  • Why do you say that BYU and Utah are connected at the hip? One is a private institution and the other one is a public institution. You can make a case for both A&M and Texas being connected at the hip since they both belong to the State of Texas, but Utah and BYU? Not so much…there’s absolutely nothing legally connecting the two schools.…[Read more]

  • Did you even have cognition when Cincinnati swept the Yankees in the 1976 World Series? I saw every one of those games and only one was really close.

  • You know, you point out something that’s really, really interesting…and that is that if the Ivy Leagues wanted to dip their toes in the water and really run the College Football show, there’s absolutely nothing that anyone could do about it. Can you imagine the draw of million-dollar contracts for each player (pocket lint to the Ivies),…[Read more]
