I agree. Also, for me, I’m just damned tired of the Dolphins putting out a substandard product season after season. I have better things to do than devote time to a team that’s a perennial underachiever.

It depends what the degree is, doesn’t it? I’m not sure an Interdisciplinary Studies degree from Cal would trump, say an Engineering degree from Utah. A lot of those athletes going to elite academic universities only get in because they’re athletes and only graduate because there are degrees available that really aren’t that intellectually demanding.

Eagle, I’m out of town and will only watch whatever games are on prime time due to my schedule. That being said, I might not watch any since I don’t have any rooting interest. Same goes for the NFL playoffs.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Wayshawn parker cancels USC and UCLA visits in the forum Football 1 week, 1 day ago
USC has more NIL money but UCLA is flat broke and has to pay Cal $30M over the next three years due to their departure to the B1G. That being said, my comment was specifically focused on the differences between Utah and Arizona, seeing as both USC and UCLA are now out of the picture. If both LA schools were still in the picture, then I’d give…[Read more]

Should come down to money, shouldn’t it? Hard to believe that Zona, with all of their financial issues, has much to throw around. I’m sure that Zona will focus on the college life aspects of going to the school, where, in my opinion, they have an advantage over Utah.

There are probably some guys that want that. However, I’d also bet that there are guys that are fine with perpetual free agency. The vast majority of the P4 football players, at this point, are surely not “in the game” for the education.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Alabama AD tells Tide fans to 'fight back,' help fund NIL in the forum Football 1 week, 1 day ago
Believe me, no one is crying for Alabama except for Alabama. They’re just pissed that the stasis has changed and they no longer hold all of the cards. If the name of the game now is money, and it is, the only advantage that schools in poor states like Alabama have is the money they receive from the networks. For example, the Boulevard…[Read more]

Looks like the Tide is starting to feel the heat. The thing is that Alabama is one of the poorest states in the nation. It’s one thing to root for the Tide/buy tickets to games, etc… and quite another to straight up give money to athletes.

Interesting..the write=up on him says that he was originally a basketball player who only started playing football in his senior season of high school.

That’s a good idea Charlie. You have to wonder how much practice, if any, the MBB does on their FTs.

How many missed dunks took place last night. If I remember correctly, Aiden, Lovering, and Wahlin also had at least one.

I don’t want to harp on a subject, but Utah followed their 47% FT rate versus Zona with a 46% versus ASU. And, one thing we forget, is that a lot of these missed FTs are the front ends of 1 and 1s, meaning they’re leaving a lot more money on the table than what the stats show

The Miami Ute replied to the topic NIL in the forum Football 1 week, 1 day ago
Revenue sharing and NIL are two separate issues. Some people conflate the two because they both involve players getting paid, something that was strictly verboten under the previous system. But you’re right, the next step is revenue sharing and players becoming employees of universities. I believe that’s the end of the line in college athletics…[Read more]

The Miami Ute replied to the topic NIL in the forum Football 1 week, 1 day ago
Well, you’re not wrong. As I understand it, what NIL is supposed to do is allow players to capitalize on their popularity and positive name recognition. As you say, what it really has done is turn what was putatively an amateur sport into a professional minor league. I don’t know how the powers that be are ever going to put the genie back in…[Read more]

LOL. It’s better to complain about obvious issues than to be a tool that has nothing original or worthwhile to say. Here’s a recommendation, instead of hanging on my every word, how about you put some original content on this site.

I wish someone would do some research and see how many more games Utah would have won over Smith’s career if the team averaged 75% from the line. The one game that will stay with me until I die is the 3 OT loss to Zona last season where the team only shot 47% from the line. I was at the game last night, and I heard enough grumbling from the…[Read more]
