You sure about that? I know that he worked as a consultant during BYU’s Spring camp but didn’t know that he was on the staff.

I will still be here and RES even if Utah finishes 4-8. Hope springs eternal.

Do you know if Isaac was offered by USC?

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Aaron Dunn Decommits in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
I’ve already said that USC doesn’t devote a significant amount of NIL to incoming HS recruits. Maybe they got him because they’re in the P2, have a much bigger brand than Utah, and promised to take care of him if he delivered? It makes sense to me. Why would USC, or any other big time program, devote large amounts of NIL on unproven players…[Read more]

No one.

USC doesn’t pay much NIL to HS recruits. They prefer to pay mature, upperclassmen from the transfer portal who can contribute immediately. Dunn might well go to USC but it’s highly unlikely that the Trojans made him a financial offer that he can’t refuse.

Dunn going to USC will be interesting. The reason is because USC has a history of not paying much (or stiffing) NIL to HS recruits. The LA Times did a long version story on this issue earlier this year. Riley has also said publicly many times that USC’s method is to reserve its high NIL payouts to guys from the portal who have already proven…[Read more]

Utah has to win, and win big, plus have a healthy infusion of NIL dollars if it wants to get the same type of recruits it was getting as the PAC ended. If all we’re doing is going 7-5/9-3, without regular appearances in the CFP, then it’s going to be very hard to be attractive blue-chippers.

Andersen has been out of football for, what, 2-3 years? His last gig was working as an analyst under Jay Hill at Weber State. Yeah, I’d be scratching my head if that’s who the next DC was.

This is what happens when you turn out to be a mid-tier program in the Big XII. Only consistent winning and NIL payouts will fix this situation.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Another example of why chasing recruiting battles in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
In sports, as in life, it’s better to do something a year too early than a year too late. By that I mean is that if Whitt has any notion of retiring, it would be best for the program if it happened sooner rather than later.
Obviously, he can stay as long as he wants and his current contract runs for three more seasons. However, what you most…[Read more]

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Teams that would want Cam in 2025 in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
Cam’s NIL easily gets you three (or more) top-flight performers at other positions. You’re better letting him go, as long as you have Isaac at a reasonable rate (which you will seeing as Isaac hasn’t really done anything to warrant a huge QB expense), and use that money to help the team in other positions.
I do want to say one thing, and that…[Read more]

Cam has already suffered three season-ending injuries as a member of the Utes. He’s also been at Utah for six seasons. Everything has an expiration date, and Cam’s relationship with Utah has reached it.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Ludwig in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
Ludwig is 61. He’s never going to be a head coach. I doubt that Scalley would keep him but you never know. We can blame Ludwig all we want but it’s likely that the offense he runs is a figment of Whitt’s imagination. By that, I mean that Whitt is probably giving Lud guidance as to what he wants out of the offense and Lud is putting together…[Read more]
