I hear you. The man was slotted to be a starter on one of the top defenses in all of college football and a Utah team is 60 minutes of “doing the damn thing” from being historic (conference champ, minimum of Roses with a win), and he thought something else was a better choice. It’s very interesting to think about.
One could argue it’s easy to…[Read more]

Definitely not looking for his approval or to change him. More than anything, I was curious to hear the argument against what would be the best recruiting class ever from an average rating stand point. I suspect it would be same old, same old i.e. not enough 4 stars/no 5 stars, but rather than assume, I figured he could voice his own thoughts.…[Read more]

I don’t know why I’m curious about this but if the recruits currently projected to pick Utah were to come through, what would your thoughts on the class be, Pace? Here are those predicted and committed. NOTE: I did not include a few showing as predicted, but not likely because of recent changes (Darvon Hubbard, Katravis Marsh) or recent recruits…[Read more]

Here will inevitably submit a waiver. As many schools found out, that opens the door for him to play next year. As we found out firsthand, that doesn’t mean his waiver will be accepted or it could even be accepted the final week of the season.

I’m sorry, Brother. You lost me at “350 pound lineman”. I get your point, though. As long as Utah has a reputation for being the toughest team, we are going to have to deal with teams wanting to show they are tougher. Couple that with a lot of the newer Pac coaches wanting their teams to embody a similar philosophy as Utah, we are likely to see…[Read more]

Seriously. That’s saying nothing of 3 weeks for Kwhitt and Ludwig to prepare, Add being in the cfp puts us right back into our comfort zone as the “they don’t belong” team. Truly delicious!

Pace, are you able to admit there is a disconnect between star rating and results when you can develop players like Utah can.
Everything about the Utes these last few years refutes your “there are no 5 stars so Whitt’s terrible” schtick.
Any fan whose honest will admit that we want to see some blue chips donning a red U on signing day, but we…[Read more]

Darvon Hubbard is the 4 star that was passed up in favor of the 3 star RB previously committed to Arkansas, John Gentry.

@bombastic I tend to agree with you, though I don’t remember any such comments before USC.
However, as petty as it would mean the CFP Committee can be, if that somehow got them into the CFP based on the committee thinking, “you think you’re so big and bad, well here you go,” I’m all for it. Either way they gave to continue to dominate and Kwhitt…[Read more]

ayoriver replied to the topic 35-7 isn’t enough. in the forum Football 5 years ago
I actually think the alleged cfp committee habit of checking box scores works for us in this case. Over 500 yards offense vs less than 200 UA. Nearly 40 minutes possession vs 20 minutes. 35-0 until under two minutes left, when you know for sure it was backups. I think anyone would read exactly what we would hope them to read out of the numbers.

We just have to continue to win in dominant fashion, and the rest will take care of itself.

ayoriver replied to the topic 4&5 star recruits on each CFP top 10 team in the forum Football 5 years, 1 month ago
I can’t help but point out that this is looking at 4 and 5 stars, which is 8 to 0 for Utah. Not a single 5 star out there, which is why I’m so intrigued to see how the Mique Juarez situation works out. He will be the first 5 star I am aware of (albeit a few years removed from high school and with an injury history).

Assuming 11-1 Utah vs 11-1 Oregon, I think the hope for the Pac hinges on the winner on the Championship game destroying the other. If they were 6 and 7, and the winner is convincing, I think that gets them in, it would make them really hard to ignore, especially if it’s Utah like we are all hoping. That would me they obliterated a team that…[Read more]
