Need to add Sataoa Laumea.

Bishop’s stock is getting lower as more unexpected guys enter the draft, like Vaki. If he goes in the 4th round, it’ll be great for him but likely seen as a reach for whichever team drafts him.

If there’s one player that should go, based on draft rating, it’s Elliss. He’s a top 40 pick.

Don’t laugh, but he keeps popping up in the 6th and 7th round of every mock draft I’ve been doing lately.

There’s no doubt in my mind that Vaki will be drafted higher than Bishop. His physical measurables are way better and that’s something that the NFL really puts a premium on. How many times have we seen some guy that we never heard of jump into the 1st or 2nd round just based on measurables and potential? I also have to imagine that Vaki and his…[Read more]

Exceptions to every rule then…on a case by case basis. NCAA rules explicitly state that applying for the draft cancels out any eligibility left. In addition the NFL also states that participating in the Draft means that an underclassman loses his remaining eligibility: If he is not selected by an NFL team, he will not be able to play another…[Read more]

Oh, I imagine it’s not only the upper bowl seats that will be mostly blue. I’m certain that quite a few Utah season ticket holders have been selling their lower bowl tickets for a tidy profit. I have lower bowl season tickets and they only come out to $10 per game. I just checked and the cheapest tickets on third-party sites for this game were…[Read more]

Apples and oranges based on different positions. Where Sluka has made his name has been as a running QB. His passing stats are exceedingly mediocre even playing two levels below Utah (P5>G5>FCS). If that’s the kind Utah is looking for, they already had him in Nate Johnson

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Whitt said all the NFL guys will not be playing in the bowl game in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
That’s what I’m afraid of…you can bet that Northwestern will be hyped and excited to play us and not vice versa. Whatever the case, Utah needs to win to break the four game bowl losing streak. It would be poetic to break the streak against the team that started it.

I know that EPN/Fox. etc…love bowls because it makes them money. However, when you crunch the numbers, the monetary gains for the schools is really minimal for all the effort that’s required to go to a bowl. Unless the networks start sweetening the pot considerably, non-playoff bowls might go the way of the dodo.

The deadline for underclassmen, sophomores and juniors to declare themselves eligible for the NFL draft is in January. However, once a player declares for the draft, which is a formal application process through the NFL, they forego their remaining eligibility to play college football. This means that once they declare for the draft they cannot…[Read more]

Oh, I get that…all I’m saying is that with Whitt, the end is most definitely near. No way in hell do I see him doing a Nick Saban and still be coaching at the age of 72.

That quote from McElhenny came during a period where professional football was still way behind college football in popularity, so it made sense at the time.

Or maybe he says “fuck it, I’m done with this crap” and rides off into the sunset on his Harley with his millions. You have to figure that, for a guy like Kyle who’s a millionaire many times over and is still in the youth of his retirement years, the question of whether the juice is worth the squeeze crosses his mind fairly regularly.

You’re right Eagle. Due to being a mission kid, Vaki hasn’t even finished his sophomore year at the U. He’s eligible for the NFL draft due to his age but not the combine due to his lower classman status.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Cole Bishop declares for NFL draft in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
Fully concur…if Vaki has a 40 time in the 4.4 range and bench presses 225 lbs say 20-25 times, that’s going to draw a crowd.
-
The Miami Ute replied to the topic Cole Bishop declares for NFL draft in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
I’m not certain about that at all…the guys that shine in the combine are the under the radar players from unknown schools that have undocumented freakish physical traits. Bishop is neither freakishly big, nor freakishly strong, nor freakishly fast. He might be smart as hell but this is not a CPA competition and intelligence will only carry you so far.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic tranfer portal rule changes in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
And that lack of motivation is why most of them will be broke by the time they’re 30. Even the vast majority of guys that have normal NFL careers are essentially broke 4-5 years after the money stops flowing in. Just because you can make a lot of money in a short period of time doesn’t mean that you’ll be rich forever.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Joel Klatt’s ideas to fix the transfer portal in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
He’s going to depart the largest media market in the country and get a better deal somewhere else? Where? I can’t think of any school in the nation that has deeper pockets and could offer him more unless you’re talking about Stanford and the Ivys and they surely don’t play that geme. Fact is, from my view, that Williams played his hand as well…[Read more]
