Charlie, I can’t imagine that too many players that have NFL aspirations will stick around at Corvallis or Pullman. The only caveats to that are guys who view each of those schools as their dream destination.

I agree with that. I thought that the OL would be one of the biggest strengths of the team and it was just the opposite. Most of the season they were mediocre to decent at best. Hopefully that gets corrected next season.

I’ll tell why that is. Bullock is projected to be a late 1st RD/early 2nd RD draft pick in next year’s NFL Draft. Bishop on the other hand, is projected to be a 6th/7th RD draft pick, if he declares for the draft. Can’t have a guy projected in the 1st RD backing up a guy projected to go in the 6th RD, can you? It’s really all about measurables…[Read more]

You know what I see Charlie, the possibility of the NFL and certain universities entering into some sort of licensing and development agreement. The universities lend their NIL to the NFL, create their own league, and act as a farm club for each NFL team. For example, Miami for the Dolphins, USC for the Rams, UCLA for the Chargers, Texas for…[Read more]

For years, I’ve only watched Utah or Miami or games which impact those schools directly. I have neither the time nor the desire for anything else.

I think the issue there is that there are a lot of schools within the Big 2 that don’t move the needle at all. Personally, I don’t think that the B1G and the SEC can get paid at the level that they think they’re worth by ignoring over 50 percent of the country.
What you could see is what I and a lot of others have been saying is going to…[Read more]

Thanks. That chart lists Rising as a Junior though. This even he’s been in college since Fall 2018.

Interesting. Charlie Baker used to be the Republican governor of Massachusetts and is known as a consummate deal maker.

If you’re asking whether someone can play in a bowl but still be eligible for a medical redshirt, the answer is no. In order to be eligible for a medical redshirt, you have to meet the following criteria:
– Suffer an injury that is deemed “season-ending”
– The injury must occur before the halfway point of the season
– Not participate in more tha…[Read more] -

I’m guessing that he’s on scholarship based on the fact that the Utes did recruit him. Is there a possibility that he’s with the Utah as a preferred walk-on?

Smedley is a scholarship player out of Conroe, Texas…I don’t know what his potential is…it seemed like he was the lowest QB in the depth chart.

Are you asking me? I mean a QB with experience that can provide some guarantee in case Rising goes down again or isn’t effective in his return from injury. I’m talking someone like a Troy Williams…a guy that has legit P5 talent, has some starts in another program but hasn’t worked out in his previous team for whatever reason.

Well, if that’s the way you sell it, no one is liable to come. I’d put it in another manner to any prospective portal addition.

Ghost of the HEB said that there’s a rumor that Vaki is receiving million dollar offers from various top schools like USC, Texas, and Oregon.

If you’re saying that Utah isn’t shopping for a QB from the portal, I just think you’re wrong. Utah’s QB room going into 2024 is a QB that’s coming back from a near career ending injury, a RS Soph that’s never played a down in an actual game, and a true freshman. There’s also Steve Smedley but I’ve never even seen him. Those guys, and their…[Read more]

I think that, sooner or later, some sort of guardrails have to be placed on NIL and the portal. I mean, I’m all for allowing players to transfer once or if the head coach is fired or moves to another job. What we can’t have is have some teams use every other team as some sort of farm system which they can raid at no cost to themselves.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Smoke on Vaki… in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
Though it might hurt, that’s the answer. Utah needs to at least come close to what others offer to make him think twice about leaving. Most players won’t leave their current teams if the numbers are about the same, considering the hassle of moving and adjusting to a new environment.

More than likely. But, now we know what the Utes will have to pony up in 2025 if the team wants a top flight starter.
