Evidently the large Texas contingent didn’t hold him close to their heart.

Here’s one for you…if you kickoff and the Huskies get the ball anywhere between the 15 and 25 yard line are they under more or less pressure than if they were starting at midfield? I know what my answer is. If you get the stop there and force Washington to punt, Oregon is already relatively close to FG range with a lot of time left on the clock.

At the Big XII CCG trophy presentation. Heard a lot of “SEC, SEC, SEC” chants from the Texas faithful.

Hard to say it was smart to take the onside kick when the results didn’t pan out. I bet you that the chances of stopping Washington on a three and out were much greater than recovering an onside kick.

Was wrong about this game as I’ve ever been. Washington has gotten into Oregon’s head like we have to USC. Doesn’t help that Lanning routinely makes head scratching moves.

Boy, was I wrong about this game. Oregon looked like they partied until 5 AM on the strip last night. Crazy that they just didn’t have an answer for Washington and it’s gotten in their heads. If all goes as planned, it looks like Washington and Michigan will play in the Rose Bowl in one of the CFP semifinals.

Lanning sometimes is dumber than a box of rocks. Who in their right mind tries an onside kick down by three points, with 2:14 on the clock, and with all three timeouts remaining? Why not kick it deep?

Remember last year’s game? USC was up 17-3, had a 4th and 8 in Utah territory, decided to go for it, didn’t make and then came the deluge. Same thing can happen in this game.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic So what happens if a team loses so many players to the portal in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago
Personally, I think bowls will be a thing of the past in the near future for all of the reasons, and more, that you mention. Who really wants to play another meaningless game when you have a legitimate playoff system in place? Probably the coaches do, just so that they can get more practices in, but the players? Maybe if they got a cut of the…[Read more]

The Portal reminds of the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. The player is the tourist passing through and all the booths are schools.

The biggest problem is that the game is held on a work day and Oregon and Washington have two of the longest driving commutes to Vegas. If it was USC vs Utah it would be a different story.

The powers that be should just rip off the bandaid and make revenue producing players employees of the school and make scholarships akin to contracts. You can keep the one transfer rule and allow players to transfer if a coach moves or is fired but, for everything else, there should be guardrails. The big schools would still have their way but…[Read more]

Also hard to believe that a guard can be so bad shooting free throws. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen someone throw up an air ball on a free throw.

Honestly, I don’t think we ever get that. No QB is going to want to transfer to Utah knowing that he has zero chance of starting.

I think the same as I do about all other good QBs entering the portal, of which there’s about to be a bunch. They’ve only going to come to Utah if they have an ironclad promise from Whitt that they can compete for the starting job.
That’s the one downside of having Cam come back for another season. He’s got a leg up on all the competition so…[Read more]

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Caleb Williams: NFL decision is going to be: in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago
If Williams was the #1 draft pick, his rookie contract would be just over $41M, with $27M of that guaranteed. On a prorated per annum basis, he could make more by staying at USC than by going to the NFL and, as you say, pretty much call his own shots with little to no pressure to produce on the field. That’s pretty good living and why it…[Read more]
