Oregon has a 3rd and 18. Nix throws a short swing pass to a RB and he goes for 20 yards through the Utah defense. Utah’s defense was completely unrecognizable today.

He holds the ball too long, he’s not exceedingly accurate, has a hard time reading defenses, sometimes goes to the wrong receiver, etc…textbook back-up who would probably looks better if defenses weren’t preparing fo him.

Do you think Barnes (or lack of talent and ability to execute at the QB position) is the reason why they can’t diversify the play-calling? I’m surprised that an undersized true freshman like Fifita can looks so much better than any Utah QB not named Rising.

Sadly, both Bishop and Vaki could declare for the NFL draft after this season. I’m not holding my breath that Rising will be coming back next year. When healthy, he’s easily a Top 15 college QB and there are going to be a lot of high-end programs in the market for a QB. He could make a mint if he plays his cards right in the NIL game.

Yeap, and that play could have gone for a long gain. Stanford had the entire UW defense fooled and no one was around him. Such go the breaks of the game.

Utah has zero championship hopes unless it figures out its QB situation and starts getting elite play from the position. If Barnes is QB1 next year, fuhgeddaboudit…

ASU’s offense has woken up tonight versus Wazzu. If Utah plays like they did today, they won’t win another game this season.

You got it. I mentioned during the in-game chat that Nix looked like he was in a rocking chair in the pocket. Did we even have one TFL during the game?

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Next week against ASU in the forum Football 1 year, 4 months ago
Same was what we saw this week except against a much worse team. Still, ASU has a decent defense and good athletes on both sides of the ball. They had Washington on the ropes in Seattle and, without some disastrous refereeing, would have probably won that game. The way the Utes are playing right know, they can’t afford to sleep on anyone. They…[Read more]

I’m not sure what’s going on with the OL. This was supposed to be a strength going into this season but it has severely underperformed. Compare that to Oregon’s OL which had four new starters from last year. That OL completely dominated the Utes’ front 7.

I’ve been watching football for almost 50 years and I’ve never seen another interception like the one Siaosi Mariner handed Byron Murphy in that game. If that pick six doesn’t happen, good chance that Utah wins the CCG.

Cal 43 – USC 29 in the 4th QTR.

There is a pathway for Utah to get to the CCG. A Beaver loss to Arizona tonight would start the ball rolling on that nicely. The positive thing about the game with Washington is that their defense sucks. I’m more scared about the game at Zona. Zona is like #21 in offense and #31 in defense in the FBS.

Oregon’s first time in holding a ranked opponent without a TD since 2012. The last time Utah was held without a touchdown? The 2018 Pac-12 Championship Game.

You’re absolutely right. It’s hard to get upset when your team has been completely and utterly dominated in all phases of the game. In those cases, all you can do is tip your hat to the opponent and move on to the next game.

Surprise. They’re losing 36-29 late in the 3rd QTR.

I’m getting dejavu all over again. Even USC is firmly still in the PAC race and has a lot to play for. If Utah wins out, a huge if, there’s a good chance that craziness happens and they could conceivably make the CCG. We’ll see what happens in Tucson tonight. A Beaver loss would kind of get the ball rolling.

Yeap. The play calling also sucked. Felt like Oregon knew what every Utah call was on offense or defense before they took place. Seen a few high profile games with result from the Utes the last couple of decades. It is what it is.
