The Miami Ute replied to the topic 2024 schedule – Hot off the press in the forum Football 11 months, 3 weeks ago
Hmmm, all I can tell you is that I’ve been to Disney World multiple times in my life during the T-Giving period…the last time a couple of years ago. I would ask where are all of these massive crowds going to come from since in Florida and nearby locations, schoolkids only get Thanksgiving and Friday off, not the whole T-Giving week like some…[Read more]

I’m not calling that assessment into question but I base my comments on actually living in Florida and going to the park during the times mentioned. I also spent the last week of last year in LA and was told to expect “massive crowds” at Disneyland and California Adventure. Sure,, there were a lot of people there but nothing like the “downtown…[Read more]

This is old news. The Utah administration said “thanks, but no thanks” to him a while ago. No way, no how, that the university leadership wanted part of this guy after the deaths of Lauren McCluskey, Ty Jordan, and Aaron Lowe the last few years. Remember that Bridges is a guy that threatened to kill someone with a firearm while conducting an…[Read more]

Utah State hired Danny Sprinkle from Montana State. So no, they didn’t promote from within.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Can we stop with AZ in the forum Football 11 months, 3 weeks ago
I was about to say that and commented on this issue on Canzano’s blog. If Fifita and McMillan wanted to leave Arizona for Washington, they’ve had ample opportunity to do so already. Sometimes we don’t take into consideration the fact that maybe some players like and are very comfortable where they’re going to school and instantly assume that…[Read more]

The only away game that was a reasonably close contest was against Stanford. Every other away game has been a blowout loss. That, to me, is a significant issue.

Disney is not packed during Thanksgiving…trust me, I’ve been there more than once.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic 2024 schedule – Hot off the press in the forum Football 11 months, 3 weeks ago
A little bit off-topic but, actually, that’s probably one of the best times of the year to go to Disney. And I say that as a guy that for years lived 45 minutes away from WDW. Most people don’t see T-Giving as a time to go to the parks so you’re only dealing with locals, foreigners, and the occasional out of towner. Also, by that time of the…[Read more]

I didn’t get the last part. Did you mean that the KSU and Zona games don’t count towards the conference record?

The Miami Ute replied to the topic 2024 schedule – Hot off the press in the forum Football 11 months, 3 weeks ago
Just a quick question…the Baylor game is not considered a conference game, correct?

It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if Smith is fired and Burgess is hired as the next head coach. I read a story on how he ended up at Utah and there’s no doubt that he wants to run his own show eventually.

That’s the point Ted…they play really well at home, but crap the bed away. It’s like they’re a bipolar team. Without the away/neutral victories versus Saint Mary’s and Wake Forest, they would be lucky to be considered an NIT team at this point.

Well, you’re not wrong. Look at what Madsen is doing in his first year with Cal. He’s got the Bears only half a game behind Utah in the PAC standings with a team that only won three games last season. As many have said, if Utah can’t get to the postseason this year with a roster full of experienced players, it’s hard to see how the situation…[Read more]

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Harlan thinks that 2023 was Whitt's best in the forum Football 11 months, 4 weeks ago
If what you imply is true, that Whitt essentially sacrificed the 2023 season for a chance to win the CFP, and that comes to fruition, then, to me, he’ll ascend to the level above legendary. Because, while I was playing checkers, he was playing three dimensional chess.

I congratulate Whitt and Company for being able to win eight games with so many injuries. I criticize Whitt and Company for not having a good handle on Rising’s injury situation in what’s the most important position on any team.
None of the options regarding Rising are good. !. Whitt didn’t know…no bueno for the CEO of the team. 2.…[Read more]

A few months ago when Big League Utah Big League Utah had what I think was their inaugural event, it was covered by the local sports stations and Charlie Monfort was there front and center wearing an Utah hat. So yeah, it’s good to have someone like that advocating for you.

I also think that he gets one more year for the simple reason that he’s got a six year contract. Now, if we miss the NIT/Dance this year and next year it’s more of the same, Smith will be gone.

You’re right about Portland. I’ve followed that situation because I subscribe to John Canzano, who’s covered it quite in depth in his blog. If all things were equal, Portland would probably be the frontrunner to get a baseball team. However, all things are not equal. Portland doesn’t have ownership sorted out, they don’t have an earmarked…[Read more]
