Just go to your nearest truck stop Tony. I’m sure that they’ll be able to help you out.

ASU AD should follow him out the door. Hard to believe he still has a job after all the shenanigans under Herm Edwards.

Wow!!! I wanted to post the exact same thing but was afraid I would get an avalanche of downvotes. Personally, I think that Keita, although extremely physically gifted, still commits too many fouls and has a limited offensive game. I think Lovering also handles the ball better, provides some defensive upside due to his height, and spreads the…[Read more]

Yeah, me too…I couldn’t believe how the Utes essentially frittered away a double digit lead and had to hit a clutch basket to send it to OT.

The Utah WBB team just had beat #2 UCLA 94-81, the highest ranked opponent in school history. After tying the game essentially at the buzzer, Utah just obliterated UCLA in the OT period. Great job ladies!!!

I’m sure you know this Rick, but a lot of times, some of your best players come off the bench. If Worster and Lovering are around, neither Erickson not Tarlac really see much of the floor. Those two guys, Erickson and Tarlac, from my POV are massive liabilities anytime they see any game action and, at this point with a large sample size, I would…[Read more]

Ben Carlson was the unsung hero of this game. He didn’t score s lot of points but those he did came at crucial times. He hit a couple of threes that stopped the bleeding just when it looked the Ducks were about to go on lengthy runs. Kudos to him.

Yeah, I know, it’s sad, especially for people who remember students camping out in the snow to be able to buy tickets well before the Majerus years. It’s a work in progress. Hopefully, the Utes keep playing and winning like this during the rest of the season, make the Dance, and the feel good trend carries on to next season. If fans think that…[Read more]

That’s going to be a Quad 1 win for sure and totally concur on the Smith blocking call. If they showed it one more time on the scoreboard, I thought the crowd was going to rush the court to get at the refs.

Here’s the thing guys, Utah beat the Ducks without really playing well and missing two starters. For example, they allowed Oregon to shoot 45% from the floor and 50% from 3PT range. I was at the game and thought the crowd, though not close to a sellout, was a factor. It wasn’t as loud as against BYU but it was loud. I also thought that it acted…[Read more]

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Which Current Ute do you Think Has the Best Chance at the NBA? in the forum Basketball (Men) 1 year ago
Did you read my comment? I specifically used the words “instant offense” to envision Madsen’s role in the NBA and that’s exactly what Vinnie Johnson was, instant offense.

That’s true but remember that Kuzma was drafted in the 1st RD. So, the Lakers obviously saw something in him.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Keba Keita draft prospects. in the forum Basketball (Men) 1 year ago
Not to disagree with you, but, in my opinion, the only thing that Carlson has in common with Holmgren is similarity of body type. If their skill sets/abilities were remotely similar, Carlson would have left for the NBA years ago. This updated profile for the 2024 NBA draft has him as #91, which obviously means he would have to stick with some…[Read more]

I’d never expect Madsen to be a starter in the NBA or even be expected to play much defense. I envision him as a guy like Vinnie Johnson from the Pistons (remember him? Had the coolest nickname: The Human Microwave) who could provide instant offense from the bench.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Keba Keita draft prospects. in the forum Basketball (Men) 1 year ago
He’s got to develop an outside shot or he’s got zero chance at an NBA career. The way the game is played now, he’d be an offensive liability whenever he stepped on the floor. Teams would just ignore him and dare him to shoot while concentrating on better shooters.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Which Current Ute do you Think Has the Best Chance at the NBA? in the forum Basketball (Men) 1 year ago
Yeah, we talked about Keita and Carlson on the other post. Keita has to do a lot of work to get NBA ready. He might have the physique but he doesn’t handle the ball well and has no outside shot. Once upon a time, there was a role in the NBA for a guy who could just rebound or play defense. That’s no longer the case. Now, it’s all about…[Read more]

Since a few posters have submitted comments regarding current Utah MBB players, I thought I’d post one of my own. So, which current Ute do you think has the best chance to play in the NBA? After sitting down and doing some analysis, I personally think Gabe Madsen probably has the best chance of sticking with an NBA team. Why do I think that?…[Read more]

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Keba Keita draft prospects. in the forum Basketball (Men) 1 year ago
Keita has to really polish his game and develop a consistent outside shot to just get into the draft conversation. Even a guy like Carlson, who’s 7′, can handle the ball well, and can shoot the ball from the outside isn’t considered a draftable NBA prospect. Last I checked, he was rated something like the 230th prospect for the 2024 draft. The…[Read more]
