The Miami Ute replied to the topic Bryson Barnes landing spot speculation in the forum Football 1 year ago
I have to imagine that all of those offers were for backup positions. There’s no way that Barnes is better than any of the leading QBs already present at those schools.

Thanks. I was going off the CBS Sports website which had ASU as the home team for that game.

ASU will definitely be easier of the two teams. They got blown out by BYU at home and have a couple of other bad losses. That being said, Utah isn’t good enough yet to take any team for granted on the road.

The victim reported Bridges pointed a gun at him and threatened to kill him during the April 15, 2021, incident, police said.
Is this really the type of guy we want to introduce into the locker room? That’s some straight up gangsta shit.

If Utah keeps winning, they won’t stay unranked for long. A couple more victories and their record will be impossible to ignore.

Just a question, has Pittman committed to coming back? He’ll be 24 years old well before the start of the football season. As a guy with limited NFL prospects and given his extensive injury history, you’d wonder how much more gas he’s got left in the tank.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Future basketball roster in the forum Basketball (Men) 1 year ago
Keita needs to be a legal resident of the USA for at least five years before he can apply for US citizenship. Keep in mind that, in order to receive NIL and be treated like any US born player, all he has to have is legal residency (known colloquially as a “green card”), not citizenship.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Future basketball roster in the forum Basketball (Men) 1 year ago
That would necessitate a massive change to the immigration system which would affect hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people, who have zero ties to the USA other than they go to school here. You couldn’t do a change like that just for athletes, it would essentially affect all foreign students, so it’s never going to happen. According to…[Read more]

Another guy I’m hearing about is OSU WR Silas Bolden. However, the Utes have a lot of competition for his services to include Michigan State, where he would be reunited with Chiles and Smith, among others.

You’re right. Here’s a website that explains it all in depth:
Can International Student-Athletes Benefit from NIL Agreements? In essence, they’re here on a student visa and that explicitly forbids any sort of employment while in the USA.

Evidently you’re not the only one that thinks that Matthews is just a guy. I’ve been keeping up on him seeing where he’s going to land and, so far, all I’ve heard is crickets. Maybe he jumped before knowing where he was going to land?

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Not trying to stir up trouble but I've got a question about Utah NIL deals. in the forum Football 1 year ago
Would you keep a guy that lied to your face and potentially derailed your season by not being honest about his injury situation? I know I wouldn’t. This is not Whitt’s first rodeo. If he didn’t know the extent of Rising’s injury that’s as bad as thinking he could play this year with a blown-out knee. I’m sure that there’s a lot of smoke and…[Read more]

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Not trying to stir up trouble but I've got a question about Utah NIL deals. in the forum Football 1 year ago
Eagle, I don’t think we’ll ever know the reality of that story. If Rising was economical with the truth regarding his recovery timeline, is Whitt so hard up for a QB that he’d keep someone that lied to him? That’s a tough pill to swallow for a head coach. It really looks like no one (Rising, Whitt, Utah medical staff, etc..) comes out looking…[Read more]

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Not trying to stir up trouble but I've got a question about Utah NIL deals. in the forum Football 1 year ago
Because RBs as a position are expendable. Rising was 1st Team All PAC 12 in 2021 in the most important position in the field and would have been in the same area in 2022 if Nix, Williams, and Penix hadn’t parachuted in. In addition, if you look at JJ’s total production in the last two seasons, it’s just slightly more than what Jayden Daniels got…[Read more]

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Opt outs and the portal killing Bowl games in the forum Football 1 year ago
That’s why I said I’d be interested in seeing the rating numbers. They have to be abysmal. The only bowl games I watched so far were the last few minutes of the Rose Bowl and the Sugar Bowl. I went to the Las Vegas Bowl and would have watched it because it’s Utah. I have a deep suspicion that things are going to get much worse for the ratings…[Read more]

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Jonah Elliss Declares for NFL Draft in the forum Football 1 year ago
This was the chronicle of a death foretold. I’ve said countless times in this forum that Elliss has by far the highest draft grades of any Ute eligible for the draft. He’s a borderline 1st RD pick. Of course he was going to declare for the draft. If he hadn’t declared and had a down season or an injury next year it would have cost him hundreds…[Read more]

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Playoff Semi: Washington vs Texas in the forum Football 1 year ago
Last post on this subject for me…the question is whether the DB made contact with the receiver prior to the ball arriving. If he did, its DPI. There’s no way a person can lawyer himself or herself out of that.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Playoff Semi: Washington vs Texas in the forum Football 1 year ago
Madden once said that you could call a hold on every play, not DPI. Ok then, so let’s just change the rules to what they were during the Jack Tatum/George Atkinson days of “bump and run.”. There’s nothing I hate more than having rules that aren’t enforced. In my life, I’ve seen DPIs less egregious than that called and also some that were much…[Read more]

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Transfer portal QB’s are the way to go, the Noah Fifita’s are the exception. in the forum Football 1 year ago
Yes, next year he’ll be RS Sophomore in his third season with the Wildcats. If he continues on an upward tick, he’s a legitimate Heisman candidate ala Johnny Manziel or Kyler Murray. After another great season, the NIL would really have to be substantial for him to chance an injury or a regression in his game.
