Love it. Great stats. Thank you. He’s only a sophomore by the way. Let’s hope he not only continues to progress but stays with the program. If he’s really this good and doesn’t get the minutes or money he wants he’ll be gone. Such is the new landscape of college basketball. So yeah, given there are no guarantees, we need to utilize him as much as we can while we have him!

And it would sure be nice to get a win on Saturday versus the TDS.

One more point – is it just me or are we seriously devoid of talent? I read these posts and people sound understandably disappointed. But man, Gabe Madsen is our best player? Seriously? Have people been paying attention to his offensive #’s? They’re abysmal. I feel bad for the dude. He’s at best a come off the bench and give us 10-15 points kind of player. Dude has disappeared lately. His #’s have been dwindling under tough competition, as have our best PG, Little. We seriously don’t have a single go to guy and that equates to a ton more losses this year. Daivon performed under pressure and made everyone better. I’m seriously just trying to be honest here – who do we have? With all due respect – an entire roster of mediocrity. Either Craig is a seriously bad recruiter, or we’re seriously lacking NIL funds to pay a couple go to guys to come to Utah. Or both. Either way, this is brutal.

This app is great. You’ve done a great job. I appreciate being able to interact with so many fellow Ute fans. Keep up the great work!

Twenty bucks said Zach called Roderick and told him he’d personally fund Isaac’s NIL money.

I went to the game and had a blast. I agree we are understaffed but come on, we pulled within two! Great effort to fight back. Little is a sophomore guard and had a double double not too far from a triple double. Lohner showed some pretty serious promise. I spoke with Lohner’s parents after and they said he was not yet in basketball shape but still had 8 points and 4 boards in only 20 minutes. I was disappointed in Gabe Reid’s second half. He’s our best player and we need more out of him. Lovering’s 7 and 8 just didn’t cut it either. Great environment though and fun to be there!

I love the Huntsman center. It’s a terrific venue and is loud when full. Wasn’t that long ago Brandon Taylor dropped a 3 against Arizona and the place was louder than I’ve ever heard it. I find this a weird post asking whether or not the Huntsman center is a viable venue. The Runnin Utes suck and they’ve sucked for a while. Once the right coach gets hired and he is able to recruit and put in a good show the place will fill again. This is on Harlan.

P.S. I’ve been to almost every game this year.

Love that point. And let’s be honest Coach K was a better recruiter. I know the whole NIL thing has changed things, but Larry brought in some serious talent. Other than Daivon who left, Craig Smith has done a pretty crappy job recruiting and bringing talent to SLC.

Love it. I can see where you’re coming from. I’ve met the guy and spent a little time with him. I really like him. I always wonder if it’s the chicken or egg thing. I think Craig needs talent and in this NIL world I personally believe other programs are out spending the Utah BBALL program by more than we may want to know. Certainly the team down south is. Always hard to tell if good coaching is more important than having talented players. I for one think for whatever reason our boosters don’t like Craig and are withholding NIL money because of it. Otherwise maybe Keita and Smith are playing for us this year because we were willing to pay them. But I totally see where you’re coming from. Craig hasn’t really hit his stride yet and if he gets the blame I just don’t know if that’s because he’s not a good coach or because he lacks the talent to do what he is capable of doing. Man this NIL era is crazy. We need NIL dollars bad.

Yeah Rick – I’m sure we’re not doing that. 🙄

Yeah free throw shooting has been tough. Not sure that’s coaching. I am a huge Smith fan. We just need talent and strongly believe our boosters need to pony up for talent. I’d be really curious to know what our BBALL guys are getting paid NIL wise. We’re definitely one or two good players away from competing. Love Gabe Madsen but he was a no show tonight. Pretty disappointing.
