  • Either way the level of difficulty is great. SEC teams build in 4 home OOC games they can fax a win in with. When they do play a P5 in an OOC game they are simply approaching the schedules in the Pac who often schedule 10 P5 games.

  • Actually college DCs spend a lot of time learning about the other side of the ball. That is why you see so many HCs innovate the other side of the ball relative to their experience. Networking can be done without the need to be on the same staff. Bouncing around can have its advantages but also has disadvantages. If I was Scalley, I would value…[Read more]

  • Actually years ago in my day 105 scholarships were allowed. But the blue blood schools stacked up incredible depth on the bench. The number was reduced to 95 and later to 85. This was clearly better for college football making it easier for more schools to compete. I think 85 works well and now with NIL it is quite necessary.

  • With the Covid year you can’t just look at the class on the roster. You need to count the years of football without counting 2020 or any redshirt year.

I make it happen with Az and Utah. I pull for Az in all games except Utah.

Jordan would be an awesome get. Hopefully, his relationship with Becker makes a difference. I don’t know what NJ’s hands are like but as a slot receiver he would completely occupy the attention of a 1 high safety, which has many benefits. I also hope that Rising/Wilson/Becker will be attractive to other receivers in HS and the portal.

Week to week to week, it is so much easier with communication all across half the team and coaches to simply refer to numbers instead of names. With all the things going on as players rotate etc., a number can be validated quickly without thinking. I can only imagine Colo only know our QBs by 16 or 13. After a game you more likely hear a coach…[Read more]

  • The Utah defense is assignment based and those assignments are constantly changing. A LBer is used to receive defensive signals and/or call the defensive assignments. Barton getting hurt that process. Reid being out was the loss of the other experienced LBer. Bishop was involved with messages in the secondary. I am not sure how we started the…[Read more]

  • I think part of the problem is the number of fans in the tailgate lot that are having a good time and wait to the last minute to walk to the stadium. Tickets on phones slow everyone down. Narrow concourse does not help. Need to get food and restroom lines out of the flow. Most of the mess is avoided by getting to your seat 15 minutes before…[Read more]

My goodness we get sensitive when we lose. It is nice when the team that is up takes a knee, but it is not required. I don’t struggle if a team plays to the last whistle, from behind or ahead. Goodness knows what Scalley was looking for when he missed a coach tapping his shoulder. Myself, I took respect from Az when they rushed the field like they…[Read more]

  • I agree. Recruiting results are high beta and hard to predict. If it was better science Georgia and Alabama would wonder how other schools get All Americans. As athletes move to college many blow away expectations while others fail related to expectations. The key is to get lucky more often than unlucky and have a development plan that helps…[Read more]

I agree. I did grad school in Tucson. The girls were attractive and wear beach attire to school until Thanksgiving. But if it is a party after party you are looking for, that is at ASU.

  • I expect that he is on the scout team, not a bad spot at all for a freshman.

  • Smith is a 6 foot PG that adds quickness and athleticism to the team. WF also had a player waiting for a transfer to be approved. The process at the NCAA is broken and needs to be simple enough to resolve in 2 weeks.

  • I expect that a couple of QBs stuck between the top 2 in ’24 and the 2 future commits are likely to mull over options. If this is the case, next up is determination of QB2 followed by the other.

  • The BB team is much deeper than last year and shoots better. We will get better still if Smith becomes eligible.

  • I don’t disagree. But we need numbers and I don’t feel a single source will be enough. Improve whenever it is possible. As for top QBs for years ’25 to ’28 HS is about all there is to go on.

  • I think the portal QB for ’24 is a function of the analysis coaches will do. They know much more about Barnes and Johnson, I think they have also learned more about the potential for Rose and Howard. Next, hopefully they will get a good assessment for the return and availability of Rising. Wilson and Becker are great future pieces with little…[Read more]

Jedd was there with him as well. At AZ he seems to have found a place to settle down.

  • I think it is a numbers game. Sure a couple of 4 star QBs didn’t work out. Then again, only Rising of the recent 3 transfer QBs worked out. Huntley and Shelly were recruited 1 year apart, one worked out, the other to a lessor degree. Not sure one source is better than the other. As to Wilson and Becker being one year apart, I feel you need to have…[Read more]
