Most all of the things to worry about Utah has a good record of being able to address, except we have often struggled with elusive QBs running running on the edge when pass plays break down. If we can limit that I think Utah can find a way thru most concerns.

  • I am fine with development of rules related to NIL. However, personal information does not need to be public. The DN only wants it because they know it would be of interest by readers. That does not make it right.

Along the same thought, the public needs to have more information about the media industry because of its influence. They should…[Read more]

  • My guess the players have a lot of input into uniforms. They wear them, they should make these kind of choices, all within reason. If someone wants to dress the fans I think there could be several great suggestions.

Out of the endzone is fine if executed 9 out of 10 times. If that is not realistic do whatever it takes to eliminate a return. A high kick that can be covered to force a fair catch works but there should be lots of focus around making sure he can’t start a return. He is that good.

  • Interesting, a sophomore graduate transfer. I expect that prep for USC has seen the 1s practice with the dime package which with rotations could involve as many as 8 DBs. This week may have made very clear the pecking order in the secondary.

  • Ah, older fans may have PTSD from old school Bishop’s Interviews but I like all the suggestions.

  • Or,
The recovery is not leaner, the final steps spread out.
There could have been setbacks that were not discussed.
Cam’s ratio of hope to critical understanding may not be even.
Could the Dr. have given Cam reason to exceed expectations?
Is it possible he is actually close but continued short of final data points?

In my experience I give much…[Read more]

Can we, for the love of God, count on Utah to kick away from #1 in the USC game to keep him from attempting a return? I would prefer to see squib kicks, punts out of bounds, touchbacks or kicks specifically to anyone else on the field. With our experience with Covey, we should understand this well.

  • Ganther is in his second year as RB coach. I think his start is the three Freshmen RBs that I think came in in the fall. Too soon to see how he develops them. Is your point McDonald left the cupboard bare?

  • Charlie replied to the topic Tight End in the forum Football 11 months, 1 week ago

Awesome idea. It is not so much that I want Barton, I want to give the TE group a lift. McClain has the advantage of spending time in the TE group, however he is very light for the position which is likely why he returned to the WR group. Lets try it.

My temptation may be because the USC defense was so venerable to TEs in our games last year. It is hard to not repeat what worked so well. USC could have focused on that however, to date Utah has not given them any reason to have concern. TEs are so important to Utah’s offense I expect the backups would have had more targets if they could have…[Read more]

Yes, I know. But do you realize he has been playing this year. I think it is not as noticeable because he has gotten better.

I think the answer to why is injuries first, and second need came before development could deliver. If Kuithe and Jassmin were playing this discussion would not take place. Same if Bernard and Curry were available.

Maybe Barton has taken TE reps in practice since the bye week when Jassmin was injured but you first see him against USC.

A big part of the Utah offense is the TE and I know Utah would like the option to run 12 and 13 packages. With the season ending injury to Yassmin and with Kuithe still recovering, Utah is not only running without the numbers to make these packages viable but also without a feature TE. This speaks volumes to both the run and passing game. Could it…[Read more]

  • In 2021 Utah brought in Parks from HS and Pledger and Curry as transfers. Every reason to believe that was a good RB group. 2022 brought Glover from HS and no transfers. I don’t recall when Thomas transferred in. 2022 was impacted by Thomas. 2023 was impacted by Jackson moving over to RB. No reason to think 2023 was to have a RB issue, Curry was…[Read more]

  • Actually, only OSU and Washington ae the only teams above Utah without Colorado numbers…

I think the likely next step would be a college headliner with very good NIL. The next challenge is to keep it going against top competition when they also see him coming. A preseason all Big 12 would then begin to set the table for great NFL options.

  • I agree, Wilson spending a year with Rising is a best case scenario. Of course, no one wants more week to week mystery about the QB position but that risk would be minimal and no more than any other situation.

  • Of course it is nonsense, the libertarian part of me wants to make my own choice about eating skittles at a football game. Just injecting a bit of humor. However, if you want to know why gas cans are hell to use without spilling and people sneak the old ones in from Canada, you can thank California. I really don’t know if prevailing attitudes in…[Read more]

Never judge an OL if the offense is predictable. Don’t compare them to other OLs that are not predictable. They absolutely count on the advantage of knowing run or pass in the first second or two while the DL does not. If you are not sure, visit practice and watch the difference when the play is called out for both to hear. The OL will naturally…[Read more]
