  • May be the Californian influence. They would also like to ban you from eating skittles while you watch football or do anything else. In California there seems to be an interest to regulate over the top, more than anywhere else in the nation. Four schools is influence.

Pittman was always a long shot to see if his health would hold up.

I saw that as well. Not surprising for someone with few starts and in and out of games. Good news, Barnes is at the early point where game to game can see good improvement. Hopefully he can build some rhythm.

  • I agree, I go the the U games and watch the Az games. I also watched several USC games this year. USC was better last year. In addition, teams are learning how to defend Williams in Riley’s plan. USC will be easier than Oregon, Washington and OSU. But the randomness of football has a high beta so uncertainty plays a part. I think the key is to…[Read more]

  • Number of starts too few for conclusion. We do need a QB Lud is comfortable asking to air out some passes. He does need to make his decisions quicker when out of the pocket and have some eyes downfield. I told my son, coach needs to tell him not to look at the ground and simply assume it is always under his feet. I like the guy but worry about the…[Read more]

Whitt also pointed out that with 90+ appeals, the Pac has never overruled a targeting call.

  • Charlie replied to the topic All joking aside in the forum Football 11 months, 1 week ago

I agree but I was expecting to see some NJ. As a wildcat I would expect him to be more of a threat to pass than most.

  • Charlie replied to the topic great day to be a ute in the forum Football 11 months, 1 week ago

Well, in Utah the TDS fans were quite excited about their first Big 12 win and now fully expect them to win the majority of the rest this year. Another view would note that they beat a fellow mid major in transition and may find it difficult to collect a win against a seasoned Big 12 team.

  • I’ll take umbridge since I saw it differently. Bishop was playing the bang-bang tackle not the ball. He hit the receiver with his back that was closer to his but than his head it seemed. A receiver’s head flops with a hit even when the head is not contacted. Oddly, Bishop glanced off him without great contact. 100% of the time that would not be…[Read more]

  • There is so much more to the story than this. He was not rated high like Alex Smith and Eric Weddle but last night he was better than 5*s. I expect him to be very good but last night he was covered in man by a two way player that seemed to enjoy the offensive part of the game and was a step slow from an injury to play both ways. Add in a few plays…[Read more]

  • It might be good to remember… the past two years have included losses that felt like the end of the season to some. The Utes can get up after getting knocked down. Odds are they will bounce back.

  • Charlie replied to the topic Per Morgan Scalley in the forum Football 11 months, 1 week ago

I heard that from Morgan, in the OSU game he was closing on tackles much slower than I had seen from him. Hope he is now up to speed.

  • There is no drop dead date for Cam’s return. An 80-90% Cam would improve the Utah offense at any point. He is that much better than the current options. The RBs, WR, and OL would also quickly look better. But the longer a great QB is out the more there is doubt that 80-90% will be realized. The same could be said for Kuithe. There was concern…[Read more]

  • As time goes by, for me, the only logical explanation is that Whitt thought that Cam would be back in the saddle by now and, if he wasn’t, Rose, Barnes or Johnson could cover for him for the period of time he was out.

I think we need to leave it here for now. I would be shocked if Whitt ever talked to El-Attrache. He would have difficulty t…[Read more]

  • Charlie replied to the topic Whitt's presser in the forum Football 11 months, 2 weeks ago

L listened to the presser and really did not have an issue. Probably because,

    A) I know Whitt enough to know he isn’t going to give me heads up on who will be missing and who will be back. Since I know that already my expectation didn’t change when the list grew. Oddly, I am ok with that.

    B) The question about the prep for the backup QB was…[Read more]

Are we in a loop? Can angst timeout? Contention between processors? Database is out of space and has reached maximum numbers of extension? Ambiguous or inconsistent inputs?

  • Charlie replied to the topic Struggles in the forum Football 11 months, 2 weeks ago

I would say yes and no. Of course coaches have contingencies on contingencies, plan E and F. (Maybe about plan F you are F’ed). Football absolutely requires a coach to deal with injuries. However, each one chips away at rhythm and production. We saw two Pac schools respond with backup QBs this week as an example. When you go off the 2 deep roster…[Read more]

  • Thanks Miami, this helps me understand the gap in our views. I take a Dr’s comment of 10 – 12 months differently. To me it is most cases are 10-12 months. Outliers would be individuals that beat the common timeframe or individuals that take a very long time or don’t recover at all to previous health. No know minimum, no know max. I would expect…[Read more]

  • Actually, I get your point. Utah’s defense includes nickel and dime. The dime gives you 6 DBs. The Utah defense also includes a spy option. I think we have LBs and safeties that can play that roll well. I like rotating the spy to give Williams something to process post snap and I am happy to see it come and go but always be there when they are…[Read more]

  • It sure doesn’t happen often if at all. But what do you do when they do not at all look the part of their ranking. Sadly, I think more often teams maintain a ranking even when they do not look the part.
