How does this analysis even make sense? That game is the 9th of the season. I’m pretty sure by that point the amount of time that Rising has sat out will be a complete non-factor. The defensive starters that need to be replaced will have things sorted out by then as well. If game were taking place at the start of the season, then maybe some of…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic Isaac Wilson QB2 in the forum Football 4 months, 3 weeks ago
So not that this is indicative of anything or even a fair sample size, but I saw a video a couple days ago of some practice plays (field level camera on the practice field behind the football center). It had maybe 12 total plays with some featuring the O and some the D. Two of the plays had Rose playing QB, being pressured and throwing a pic.

So reading that article as well as others, I don’t understand what kind of eligibility he has with regards to football? Does he really only have 1 year to play and 1 year to redshirt? Or is there some other type additional eligibility if you decide to play a different sport?
Seems kind of like a big risk if he ends up getting playing time this…[Read more]

I don’t see how that is a benefit if you don’t ever see the field. It’s great to get a 4* rating, but if you don’t get to play how are you going to make it to the NFL? I can see a lot of that talent looking outside of the P2 just so they get a chance to play.
The insanity and constant change that is currently college football right now has all…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic Breaking: SLC officially named host city of 2034 Olympics! in the forum Misc 5 months, 2 weeks ago
Well let me just say this, between 2003 through 2014 or so I could reliably find A parking spots within a 10 minute walk to my building any time of day. The eastern side of the campus across from the hospital was sparsely populated and when they got rid of the old student housing it was mainly nothing but parking. Since that time A parking…[Read more]

Ugh, I don’t know how to feel about this. Living in Millcreek and having a job that has offices on the University of Utah campus, the potential construction nightmares loom large. Since the U joined the PAC-12 the campus has been under constant construction. They are talking about upgrading and adding to TRAX and running a line into the…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic Glad we didn’t waste NIL on Cormani McClain in the forum Football 5 months, 3 weeks ago
If that is the case, I hope someone on the Florida staff is willing to work with him and get him some help. Of course he has to want to be helped, or it’s all a moot point.

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic Glad we didn’t waste NIL on Cormani McClain in the forum Football 5 months, 3 weeks ago
So that video says he is a preferred walk on at Florida. Florida didn’t even want to put him on scholarship, and I would have to think that whatever NIL deal he got probably has a bunch of stipulations as well. If he can’t get on the field because he can’t even show up to practice, NIL/boosters are not going to be happy paying for nothing. He…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic Need to maintain this in the B12 in the forum Football 6 months ago
Wow, it’s stuff like this that make me think Utah is on the verge of becoming more than a regional brand. It sure would have been nice to have a Rose Bowl win against the B1G. Utah has got to start winning some of these big games when it matters. A couple more conference championships and some playoff berths would go a long way in that regard.…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic Utah vs BYU Predictions in the forum Football 6 months, 1 week ago
Since this game is later in the season, and not at the start, I think the main determining factor is going to be who is handling the game of attrition better. At this point that is going to go heavily in the Utes favor (unless Rising gets injured somewhere along the way). Utah currently has superior depth, and it will probably take BYU several…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic B1G requirement of building an on-campus production studio in the forum Football 7 months ago
Nope, as the ISP we stop at the campus doorstep. So we have a backbone network and the University connects to us in 3 separate locations for redundancy purposes. For Higher Ed we are pretty hands off on their internal campus networks (or satellite sites), in the K-12 world we are more involved as we actually connect the individual schools back…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic B1G requirement of building an on-campus production studio in the forum Football 7 months ago
Good question? The only reason I know anything about this is that I work for UETN (Utah Education and Telehealth Network) our office space is in the same building (Eccles Broadcast Center) and UETN is the internet service provider for all of the public education (K-12, Higher Ed, Libraries, Charter Schools, and the State Division of Technology…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic B1G requirement of building an on-campus production studio in the forum Football 7 months ago
There is still a studio in the Eccles Broadcast Center, however it is mainly used by KUED, KUEN, and PBS. These entities are university adjacent and likely staffed by (some) University of Utah employees. Obviously it’s on the campus, but I would bet the B1G requirement would be for a separate studio space that is used specifically for university…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic Statue of Responsibility??? in the forum Misc 7 months, 2 weeks ago
Interesting. Good backstory, and I even like what the sculpture of the hands represents. It makes more sense as to why it looks the way it does. The only issue I have with it (based off of what it is about) is the endorsement by Cox. I don’t want to get political, but the halls of power in Utah are very corrupt (in my opinion) and no more so…[Read more]

So the land that this is going to be built on was so valuable that we had to move the State Prison for development opportunities. I don’t know, call me skeptical but it doesn’t surprise me that something like this is being floated as I’m not sure the whole process of moving the prison was completely above board in the first place. Some people…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic How do you feel about the hype going into the 2024 season? in the forum Football 8 months ago
I like the hype and think that on paper Utah is probably in the drivers seat in the fist year in the Big 12. I do worry about potential match up issues with opponents that we haven’t faced before or in a long time (OSU, TCU, Iowa State, UCF). Sometimes even though you have the talent another team just has a scheme or a player or two that just…[Read more]

Could be as simple as SEC vs. Big12, which probably equates to more money for what ever position he takes.

It’s true, I had forgotten about some of those guys Rick. Brandon Taylor was awesome, probably the shortest dude on the floor but had the biggest heart out of anyone. But I do agree, those guards under Larry are better than what Smith has been able to recruit so far. I really like our bigs, but outside of Smith and Madsen, our guards seem to be…[Read more]

Every time I tune in to a BB game, I pine for the Majerus years. Some of it is nostalgia as I was attending the University at the time and had classes with several of the team members, but mostly it is because Rick was the master of taking the other team out of what they were trying to do. Utah’s defense under Majerus was a thing of beauty.…[Read more]
