It’s true, I had forgotten about some of those guys Rick. Brandon Taylor was awesome, probably the shortest dude on the floor but had the biggest heart out of anyone. But I do agree, those guards under Larry are better than what Smith has been able to recruit so far. I really like our bigs, but outside of Smith and Madsen, our guards seem to be…[Read more]

Every time I tune in to a BB game, I pine for the Majerus years. Some of it is nostalgia as I was attending the University at the time and had classes with several of the team members, but mostly it is because Rick was the master of taking the other team out of what they were trying to do. Utah’s defense under Majerus was a thing of beauty.…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic That alley-oop from Brandon Carlson to Keita on the break, have mercy! in the forum Basketball (Men) 10 months, 3 weeks ago
Keita is such a beast. He is so strong and athletic even bigger players have a hard time dealing with him.

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic Alabama vs Michigan in the forum Football 11 months, 1 week ago
Well Michigan special teams give Bama the ball back and subsequent touchdown. Not really rooting for either team, but it’s hard to root for Alabama/SEC for any reason.

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic Cotton bowl in the forum Football 11 months, 1 week ago
Exactly. tOSU had offensive problems with the 2nd string QB who got injured in the second quarter and then the 3rd string freshman with zero experience. Barnes played in and started a majority of our games this year. Our offense looked just as pathetic in the bowl game as it did against Florida in game 1.

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic What does all-in or in the way mean? in the forum Football 11 months, 2 weeks ago
I can see Whitt thinking that Barnes gives us the best chance to win, but after his first half performance, I don’t know how he could still think that? Roll tape on the Baylor game same Barnes, same issues, zero growth on decision making through the season. Your dude is in the transfer portal, let him go. Hell we could have probably scored 7…[Read more]

Why not give another career backup a chance to see what he could do? Sticking with Barnes the entire game is a total head scratcher. Seriously, how much worse could it have gotten to give Bottari a few series? Barnes holds the ball waaaaay to long and can’t throw it away.

Well, Alabama won their 7 SEC title in the last 10 years (yawn). Somehow I don’t fee bad for Georgia at all. The 12 team playoff can’t come soon enough.

Okay, it’s only the first quarter, but watching Alabama get pushed around on both offense and defense puts a smile on my face. Maybe someday I will feel the same about Georgia, but today is not that day.

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic Nate Johnson on KSL Sports Yesterday in the forum Football 1 year ago
That’s how I see it as well. Was Nate ever in a situation to get starting reps and not split them with Cam? From that standpoint I can see why he was complaining about development opportunities and the chance to get better and learn from his mistakes. It also seems like (from his point of view) there was a lack of communication or of maybe…[Read more]

KSL Sports Interview With Nate Johnson
So listening to Nate Johnson on the KSL Sports interview and I can’t help but think that the QB situation this year was terribly, terribly botched by the coaching staff. Obviously this is from Nate’s point of view so take things with a grain of salt (he is actually very complimentary of both the coaches and…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic We just don’t have that running back to compliment K-Whitt’s defense. in the forum Football 1 year ago
We really need a couple of backs that are reliable. As good as Moss and Booker were both of them were run into the ground and in November games they were playing hurt. Just think if how different this season could have been if we had Bernard in the mix at RB.

Penix to Odunze on a 30 yard bomb looks pretty good, especially in that kind of weather.

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic Coaches gave up NJ too soon. in the forum Football 1 year ago
Yeah, the QB room was completely mismanaged this year. Rising should never have been taking practice reps away from Barnes and especially NJ if he wasn’t cleared to play. Maybe those missed practice reps could have made a difference (even for Barnes) at this point of the season.

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic Coaches gave up NJ too soon. in the forum Football 1 year ago
I can’t understand why NJ wasn’t put into the game in the second half especially after Barnes threw his second pick. We weren’t coming back at that point anyway.

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic USC at Oregon in the forum Football 1 year ago
Not too surprising with the talent level they have. Their defense has major issues which has cost them games against ranked opponents, but CW playing hero ball can absolutely sow chaos and confusion on even the most disciplined defense. Is it going to blow up in his face from time to time, sure but the times it’s not he is connecting on 40 yard…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot started the topic Rutgers vs. OSU – RPO with no P in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
I am watching Rutgers and OSU. I don’t know the story about Rutgers offense, but their last two offensive series they are running RPO with zero passes. Just the QB either handing off to the RB or pulling it and keeping it himself. As I type this they just threw it for 1 yard.
Yeah it’s tOSU and they are probably playing grind it out offense as…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot started the topic 8 Games and no offensive identity in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
Ok, obviously injuries are an issue, but at what point does Ludwig start designing an offense with the players that we do have that are healthy? JJ is going to be hit and miss each week with his high ankle sprain. What could we change to better support Glover’s running style? Should Vaki be dedicated 100% to offense so that we can install new…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic Have we seen Barnes' ceiling as a QB? in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
I think that Whitt did the smart thing in announcing that Rising (and Kuthie) are out for the remainder of the season. Barnes doesn’t need to look over his shoulder and wonder if the next week is going to be the week that Cam is back, so that distraction is now gone.
This also allows Barnes to get the starting reps as well as a game plan that is…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic Forgiveness in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
Having an offense that can move the ball and is fun to watch the last 2 years has made this year seem lesser somehow. The awesome thing is that regardless of some of the ugly wins we are sitting at 6 and 1 without an established QB running the show and several of our starters either out or with season ending injuries.
At this point of the…[Read more]
