Charlie Foxtrot started the topic Watching Alabama Get Worked Never Gets Old in the forum Football 1 year ago
Okay, it’s only the first quarter, but watching Alabama get pushed around on both offense and defense puts a smile on my face. Maybe someday I will feel the same about Georgia, but today is not that day.

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic Nate Johnson on KSL Sports Yesterday in the forum Football 1 year ago
That’s how I see it as well. Was Nate ever in a situation to get starting reps and not split them with Cam? From that standpoint I can see why he was complaining about development opportunities and the chance to get better and learn from his mistakes. It also seems like (from his point of view) there was a lack of communication or of maybe…[Read more]

KSL Sports Interview With Nate Johnson
So listening to Nate Johnson on the KSL Sports interview and I can’t help but think that the QB situation this year was terribly, terribly botched by the coaching staff. Obviously this is from Nate’s point of view so take things with a grain of salt (he is actually very complimentary of both the coaches and…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic We just don’t have that running back to compliment K-Whitt’s defense. in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
We really need a couple of backs that are reliable. As good as Moss and Booker were both of them were run into the ground and in November games they were playing hurt. Just think if how different this season could have been if we had Bernard in the mix at RB.

Penix to Odunze on a 30 yard bomb looks pretty good, especially in that kind of weather.

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic Coaches gave up NJ too soon. in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
Yeah, the QB room was completely mismanaged this year. Rising should never have been taking practice reps away from Barnes and especially NJ if he wasn’t cleared to play. Maybe those missed practice reps could have made a difference (even for Barnes) at this point of the season.

I can’t understand why NJ wasn’t put into the game in the second half especially after Barnes threw his second pick. We weren’t coming back at that point anyway.

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic USC at Oregon in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
Not too surprising with the talent level they have. Their defense has major issues which has cost them games against ranked opponents, but CW playing hero ball can absolutely sow chaos and confusion on even the most disciplined defense. Is it going to blow up in his face from time to time, sure but the times it’s not he is connecting on 40 yard…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot started the topic Rutgers vs. OSU – RPO with no P in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
I am watching Rutgers and OSU. I don’t know the story about Rutgers offense, but their last two offensive series they are running RPO with zero passes. Just the QB either handing off to the RB or pulling it and keeping it himself. As I type this they just threw it for 1 yard.
Yeah it’s tOSU and they are probably playing grind it out offense as…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot started the topic 8 Games and no offensive identity in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
Ok, obviously injuries are an issue, but at what point does Ludwig start designing an offense with the players that we do have that are healthy? JJ is going to be hit and miss each week with his high ankle sprain. What could we change to better support Glover’s running style? Should Vaki be dedicated 100% to offense so that we can install new…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic Have we seen Barnes' ceiling as a QB? in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago
I think that Whitt did the smart thing in announcing that Rising (and Kuthie) are out for the remainder of the season. Barnes doesn’t need to look over his shoulder and wonder if the next week is going to be the week that Cam is back, so that distraction is now gone.
This also allows Barnes to get the starting reps as well as a game plan that is…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic Forgiveness in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago
Having an offense that can move the ball and is fun to watch the last 2 years has made this year seem lesser somehow. The awesome thing is that regardless of some of the ugly wins we are sitting at 6 and 1 without an established QB running the show and several of our starters either out or with season ending injuries.
At this point of the…[Read more]

I’ve been critical of Barnes, but you’ve got to give credit where credit is due. At the end of the day all that matters is the win.

Caleb Williams running for his life and then forcing the throw for a pic. Hmm, this is making me far to happy.

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic Notre Dame with the near pick six in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago
Notre Dame likes to run the ball, and their D is pretty good. So far that game plan has neutralized USC’s offense. Who knows how long that will last, but I hope our coaches are taking notes.

Charlie Foxtrot started the topic I can't believe we are 5-1… in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago
with the offensive issues we have had so far this year. I keep expecting to see some type of identity developing especially half way through the season, but each game seems to be something different. JJ and Vaki were the difference makers today mixed in with Barnes being effective at times. Hopefully we will see some type of improvement next…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic Kansas runs a similar offense to Utah in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago
True, O block needs to improve, but it would also be nice if our primary/secondary backs could take some contact and not go down right away as well.

Charlie Foxtrot started the topic Kansas runs a similar offense to Utah in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago
I am watching the Kansas UCF game, and Kansas runs a very similar offense to Utah. Multiple 2/3 tight end sets, running between the tackles etc. What I notice the most is how much that type of offense relies on the run game to make things work. If JJ were healthy and Bernard was not out for the year, I think our offense would be much more…[Read more]

I just made a post about the same thing. Watching teams run RPO in several games today and that sure seems like a system that would fit Nate much better than what we have been doing.
