Ok, obviously injuries are an issue, but at what point does Ludwig start designing an offense with the players that we do have that are healthy? JJ is going to be hit and miss each week with his high ankle sprain. What could we change to better support Glover’s running style? Should Vaki be dedicated 100% to offense so that we can install new…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic Have we seen Barnes' ceiling as a QB? in the forum Football 1 year, 3 months ago
I think that Whitt did the smart thing in announcing that Rising (and Kuthie) are out for the remainder of the season. Barnes doesn’t need to look over his shoulder and wonder if the next week is going to be the week that Cam is back, so that distraction is now gone.
This also allows Barnes to get the starting reps as well as a game plan that is…[Read more]

Having an offense that can move the ball and is fun to watch the last 2 years has made this year seem lesser somehow. The awesome thing is that regardless of some of the ugly wins we are sitting at 6 and 1 without an established QB running the show and several of our starters either out or with season ending injuries.
At this point of the…[Read more]

I’ve been critical of Barnes, but you’ve got to give credit where credit is due. At the end of the day all that matters is the win.

Caleb Williams running for his life and then forcing the throw for a pic. Hmm, this is making me far to happy.

Notre Dame likes to run the ball, and their D is pretty good. So far that game plan has neutralized USC’s offense. Who knows how long that will last, but I hope our coaches are taking notes.

with the offensive issues we have had so far this year. I keep expecting to see some type of identity developing especially half way through the season, but each game seems to be something different. JJ and Vaki were the difference makers today mixed in with Barnes being effective at times. Hopefully we will see some type of improvement next…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic Kansas runs a similar offense to Utah in the forum Football 1 year, 3 months ago
True, O block needs to improve, but it would also be nice if our primary/secondary backs could take some contact and not go down right away as well.

I am watching the Kansas UCF game, and Kansas runs a very similar offense to Utah. Multiple 2/3 tight end sets, running between the tackles etc. What I notice the most is how much that type of offense relies on the run game to make things work. If JJ were healthy and Bernard was not out for the year, I think our offense would be much more…[Read more]

I just made a post about the same thing. Watching teams run RPO in several games today and that sure seems like a system that would fit Nate much better than what we have been doing.

Charlie Foxtrot started the topic RPO in the forum Football 1 year, 3 months ago
So in watching several games today, I have been looking at what the defense does when an offense runs RPO. In almost every case, it causes the defense to hesitate for just a split second while they try to locate the ball. It keeps the ends from crashing down right away and also it makes the d line commit to their gaps as they try to hold the…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot started the topic Injuries and/or offensive philosophy? in the forum Football 1 year, 3 months ago
I know we are completely decimated by injuries right now, but I am kind of surprised that having several seasons with Ludwig so the OC position isn’t a revolving door, that we can’t field a serviceable offense. It seems we just don’t have the players, especially at the QB position to run the offense that Cam has been commanding over the past two…[Read more]

Helmet to the lower rib cage, could be a lot of bad things. Lacerated liver, broken rib/ribs, lacerated kidney. I hope it’s nothing too serious.

At this point they probably don’t care. Without the national distribution that the network needed to be successful, the advertisers are probably happy that their commercials are getting outside of the network footprint via hacks.

I kinda feel bad for the Colorado students/fans since they haven’t had anything to cheer about for many years. On the other hand, the hype in Boulder has gotten a little out of control over the past few weeks as well. I’m not going to shed too many tears if CSU pulls out a win.

I haven’t had a chance to watch Colorado until tonight. They look dangerous in that they have very explosive skill players, but their lines look a little undersized. It will be interesting to see how the next few weeks go against Oregon and USC.
The Air Raid offense is all the rage these days, but it seems vulnerable to stout defenses and teams…[Read more]

Not conference specific, but several top 25 teams didn’t look great today. Florida State barely had enough to outlast Boston College and Georgia didn’t look overly impressive against South Carolina. Tennessee is currently getting hammered by Florida in the swamp and Penn State got 5 takeaways from Illinois and somehow only ended up with 30…[Read more]

Yeah, his foot got rolled up on under the defender that tackled him. He didn’t exit the field very quickly and looked like he was deliberate in his steps. Hopefully it’s nothing serious.
