Utah replied to the topic It is difficult seeing any value in a FCS game in the forum Football 2 months, 3 weeks ago
Is there value when you look at it logically?
Nope.
But when big time schools schedule games like this, you need to as well. Football is too hard. You can’t play 10+ P4 games a year, win 10+ games and win the playoffs.
Look, if Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, Oregon, Ohio State won’t play 10 P4 games a year, then you sure as hell shouldn’t. You…[Read more]

Ted Lasso is the Bryce Harper of the board. Panders to us big time, but still brings it with quality posts. I want to wish BYU luck…but I really just can’t.
But I really appreciate the sentiment from you.

Our DL is so good. And our LB’s are the best we’ve ever had. Bishop is a step down, but I think overall our secondary will be better this year.

Utah replied to the topic ESPN+, How many games do we expect for Utah Utes? in the forum Football 2 months, 3 weeks ago
If it’s on ESPN or ABC, your ESPN+ subscription won’t work. You need a Youtube tv/Fubo/Sling/Cable subscription to access ESPN and over the air antennae to get ABC.

Utah replied to the topic Utah Football Brand & Identity in the forum Football 2 months, 3 weeks ago
We won 8 games last year, don’t recruit in the teens, didn’t have a monster recruiting class and are still ranked #12/13.
We are one of the most ranked teams in the CFP.
We absolutely have a brand and it’s this: “We are gonna kick your ass. But it will be fun. But we are still gonna kick it or go down trying.”
It’s beautiful.

The biggest difference is that in the PAC-12, USC, UCLA, Oregon, Washington, Cal, Stanford were all bigger brands than us.
Who is a bigger brand in the Big 12? Maybe Colorado?
So I’d bet we’d have a lot more games on the major networks in this conference, especially if we are ranked.

I don’t think we lose a game after the Arizona week. And Oklahoma State doesn’t scare me at all. Not in the slightest. They have no QB and they want to run the ball. Their QB turns the ball over a lot when they can’t run. If OSU turns the ball over and we get some quick scores with Rising and his receivers…
This game could get ugly fast.

Utah replied to the topic Spring transfer window could go bye-bye in the forum Football 2 months, 3 weeks ago
This is why hearing coaches whining about NIL and transfers and everything makes me laugh. They are cool with the system as long as it keeps players not paid, not able to transfer but the coach can leave whenever they want, do commercials, shop their services around, etc.

Utah replied to the topic Redshirt games and postseason in the forum Football 2 months, 3 weeks ago
This is really interesting. I think the strategy before this rule was get your young guys in the games early. Use their 3 games in OOC that don’t matter, when you are up big. Now…this can be huge for depth.
I still think you play someone who could contribute vs SUU. But then, you probably save them for later in the year. If you could have a…[Read more]

Utah replied to the topic NFL CUT DAY-LOCAL TIES in the forum Football 2 months, 4 weeks ago
I hope he gets cut and then ends up in Philly.
Huntley isn’t a starting QB. But what he is a QB who doesn’t turn the ball over, athletic, can get the ball to his playmakers. If you build a great team around him, he can get the job done.
That is what Philly needs. A QB that you don’t feel like you need to rush Hurts back if he gets hurt. Someone…[Read more]

Totally agree. Completely different person in real life.
When he left, he let slip that he put on a front because of the way his wife was treated by fans. He just shut down after that. He was there to do a job and he felt good at BYU, and they paid him, so he stayed, but once he knew he couldn’t succeed how he wanted to and how the fans wanted…[Read more]

I mean…he’s in the MWC, right? There is no great team there. No Utah, no TCU. He might not have the best athletes, but he’s a great coach.
They will win 8+ most years and let’s be honest…taking down Boise St…isn’t that hard of a feat.

Utah replied to the topic What are you hoping for on Thursday for Offense, Defense, Special Teams? in the forum Football 2 months, 4 weeks ago
This. I don’t like going conservative in games like these. These are gentlemen’s games. These are games you pay a lot of money for so you can practice vs someone other than yourself. So practice. Open the offense up. Let Rising get comfortable and then let Wilson air it out and get some real, live reps. Let’s make sure our guys’ first snaps aren’t…[Read more]

If you are more talented than Utah, you can beat Utah. If you have the same talent as Utah or less, you will lose.

Utah replied to the topic Biggest fears going in to the new conference. in the forum Football 3 months ago
Here is my reply to all this: Sure. But the Big 12 teams have the same issues with us. Iowa St, Baylor and TCU will all go through that. Plus, they all have to prep for us having never seen us, and frankly, we are more talented than they are.

We are a deeper team than UCF. A couple injuries and they are an average G5 team.
They still need a couple more years recruiting to get to where they are contenders.
UCF at the beginning of the year is a much better team than UCF in November.
