This is where I feel bad for this whole shit show. The players will lose this. Utah won’t. The fans won’t. But players at Matthews’ level…they will. A lot will end up without scholarships, degrees, etc.

And that will affect them for decades.

Once again, the unfettered capitalism proves to be a shit show.

What I hate about the left vs right split in this country is the politicians on both sides (but way more on the right, especially lately) won’t allow us to get better.

Is Title IX a good idea? Yup.
Are there parts we can get better at? Yup.

But we can’t do that. We have to scrap all of Title IX because some lefty snowflake came up with the…[Read more]

    Fuck BYU.

  • And, we all thought Cam would be ready to go in fall camp 2023 and we saw how that turned out.

I want Cam back. I’m glad Cam is back. But if someone comes in and outplays Cam…I’m ok with that as well.

  • Utah replied to the topic Lower end bowl games. in the forum Football 12 months ago

What the bowl game does is give you 15 more practices. Those are HUGE. That is an extra spring ball.

And you don’t have your veterans practicing for your bowl. You have all your second and third stringers getting reps, working with coaches, getting better.

If you take away lower bowls, you give the Alabama’s and Ohio State’s a HUGE advantage…[Read more]

This is a tough issue. Part of the reason why the NCAA is so incompetent is because no one will give them the power to do anything. I hate this attitude in our society today.

The NCAA could do a great job if it was funded, if it had power to go through records, if it had the power to get testimonies, if it could actually investigate things.

    We…[Read more]

  • We still have Rose, right?

Honestly, we need to recruit better QB’s. It’s as simple as that. We can’t keep recruiting these kids with super high ceilings and super low floors (Jackson, Johnson, Mack).

Wilson seems like a kid with a super high ceiling but also a high floor. We will have Rising back. And if we still have Rose, then we have a…[Read more]

  • I’d play in the bowl game if I were him. He is either going to a G5 level program (and yes, BYU is a G5 level program) to fight for a starting spot on a probably not bowl eligible team or going the FCS route.

This will most likely be his last bowl game. Might as well play in it. He’s not going pro. Take every experience you can. If he has a…[Read more]

  • Utah replied to the topic Smoke on Vaki… in the forum Football 12 months ago

You know how you have that athlete on your favorite team…say someone like Gobert or AK47…and they come up for contract negotiations and you find out that they will cost you a ton. So, what do you do? Neither one is good enough to justify the huge contract, but if you lose them you lose a great player and you have a lot of feelings for them but…[Read more]

  • At this point, you are expecting Wilson to be your starter in 2025.

  • And by your logic, Alabama isn’t a playoff team.

  • I’ve been saying this for years. G5 shouldn’t be ranked unless they’ve played 4 P5 games.

You can’t tell me this Utah team wouldn’t be undefeated with a G5 schedule.

Hell, there are 15 P5 teams who’d be undefeated with those weak ass schedules.

  • Look at their OOC P5 games:

    Alabama – Texas. 0-1
    LSU – FSU. 0-1.
    Mississippi St – Arizona. 1-0.
Ole Miss – Georgia Tech. 1-0.
    Texas A&M – Miami. 0-1.
    Auburn – California. 1-0.
    Arkansas – BYU (even though they aren’t a P5 level school). 0-1.
    Georgia – Georgia Tech. 1-0.
    Missouri – Kansas St. 1-0.
    Tennessee – Virginia. 1-0.
    Florida – U…[Read more]

  • Had Oregon won…then I could see the PAC-12 being left out for: Michigan, FSU, Alabama, Texas. But Oregon didn’t, Washington did, and the choice is easy.

Michigan vs Washington in the Rose Bowl.
Alabama vs Texas in the other bowl.

    Should be fun.

  • No drama. The committee has always said that they take injuries into account. FSU hasn’t looked good at all since their QB went down.

    #1 – Michigan.
    #2 – Washington.
    #3 – Texas
    #4 – Alabama.

It’s not that dramatic. Michigan should be #1. They have beaten a lot of really good teams. UW has beaten a lot of really good teams as well. They went…[Read more]

  • Yes…and no. Bowls came about before tv deals and big money. You’d play your conference games. Maybe a couple OOC games vs close by teams. But you’d never get to see Utah play a SEC or Big 10 or ACC team. You could in a bowl game.

    They were incredible.

Then the college conferences started selling their games to tv networks. So you’d get…[Read more]

  • Here is something great for Wilson to think about:

    Since 2017:

29 QB’s were taken in the first or second round.
23 of the 29 QB’s either redshirted or started the year as the backup QB.
Only 3 of the 29 QB’s drafted in the first round started day one. And two of those (Hurts and Mayfield) transferred to another school.

    So, going to a…[Read more]

  • There is only one reason Vaki would leave: NIL money.

BUT, for someone like him, that can be very short sighted. He knows Utah’s system. He knows he can be the leading tackler and leading INT guy. He knows if he balls out next year, he has a shot at the first round, which is where the real money is.

If he leaves…he might get more money next…[Read more]

  • A couple things about Zach.

Burrows was taken the year before and Burrows had the same career as Zach. 3-4 years of dogshit play and an incredible last year.

Then…I mean…if you own the Jets…and Wilson pans out…Joe Namath was an incredibly average QB.

But if you win a Super Bowl with Wilson…he’s beautiful, charismatic, big arm, etc.

    I ca…[Read more]

  • I don’t get the “I want to play right away” attitude. I wonder who it has worked out for?

The Mannings, maybe the smartest football family out there, sent their kid to a place where he could sit a year and get his mind/body right.
