that’s funny, becasue Andre was not a good shooter in college (much closer to being bad than good). I can imagine a guy like Chris wouldn’t have the softest shot in the world, so Andre’s may have sounded softer, but he wasn’t known for having a soft touch.

I’m impartial to Andre Miller and Michael Doleac. When Chris Jones was coaching with Majerus he would do summer camps at a place near my home, and he brought Andre and Mike to play with us. He always had those two do a three point shooting contest. He would have us all vote on who we thought would win, and if our guy lost, we had to run.…[Read more]

Seems like a good defender. He doesn’t have a janky shot, so his three point shooting isn’t a total liability. It will be nice to have another guy that isn’t so three point line oriented.
We desperately need someone to carry the load down low on defense, and we need more three point shooting. If we can do that we should be much improved with…[Read more]

I agree he deserves more credit, but I’m not going to excuse the last two years as bad luck. Sure, part of it was bad luck, and I don’t think Whitt is as much the problem as some of you seem to think, but it is ultimately his responsibility.
Our offense wasn’t just okay when Rising was healthy, it was very good. The scheme fit our personnel…[Read more]

why are you even arguing about this? IDGAF what position he plays. I have no inside knowledge, no expertise. I am just parroting what I read in an article.
If you want my opinion on your second point, look at comments to Proud’s recent post that address essentially exactly that. I don’t care enough to repeat them here.

Vaki had more than one or two plays he ran effectively, and he was a physical freak of nature. Vaki did a good job of running inside and out, and catching the ball. With Vaki it wasn’t obvious what the play would be when he came in the game. That is what I don’t want. I don’t want a Dixon or Stanley situation where everyone watching knows exactly…[Read more]

Yes, that is exactly what I’m getting at. If he’s going to be integrated into our offense, and on the field consistently in a variety of situations, I see no problem with it assuming he produces. If we just have a package for him where he comes in in certain situations with a couple of possible plays, that will be detrimental to the offense.

Eric Weddle is the exception to the rule and always has been. So the best player in Ute history made it work against vastly inferior competition. Is that supposed to mean its a good idea now, with these players?
Also, you are ignoring the last point in my post. I said let your best players carry the team as much as possible, which is exactly what…[Read more]

Whether the previous staff figured it out or not, they sure talked about doing it an awful lot, and they sure tried. Visions of Dixon, or Stanley being subbed in for the ONE PLAY they were known for keep coming to mind. I’m well aware that this could be successful, and maybe the previous coaching staff was just terrible at it, but they tried it,…[Read more]

Call it a TE, a RB, a utility player… whatever you want. From the article, they were referring to him as a tight end, but suggested he would be doing different things including running the ball, similar to Kuithe.

ugh… I know that should be a good thing, but I cringe every time I hear that the offensive staff is trying to squeeze a player into the rotation. Just pick a team identity and stick with it. Get players that fit that identity. If they don’t fit, they can play somewhere else. Now, maybe hybrid player Nate does fit that identity, and that is…[Read more]

I read an article recently (not sure how legitimate the source) about Hunter, and how he will be a great weapon for us this year. He’s supposedly 6 ft 3, 240 lbs, and was clocked at 4.45 in the 40. While I doubt that he can genuinely run a sub 4.5 40, He is blazing fast for his size if he can get anywhere near that. I am excited to see what he can…[Read more]

We will be more fun to watch this year than we were the last two years. That is what I am hoping for. I’m excited to FINALLY be moving on from Rising. It really is too bad we didn’t move on from him two years ago, because I thought Ludwig’s system was great for the kind of guys we can get (tight ends and running backs with decent QB play).
The…[Read more]

I’m going to disagree with you there. He’s been a great point guard, and if the team around him is better, he’ll be even better. Our problems this year have had nothing to do with getting into our offense. We struggle with stupid turnovers (not his fault), and missing free throws. If those two issues were fixed we’d be a tourney team.

Mike has actually been one of the bright spots on this team IMO. He is a good point guard, and an excellent passer. The offense is much better with him on the floor. He is far better than anyone we’ve had since Delon at PG stuff.
