Meh… no clue if he knows how to train. He was a massive disappointment at TSPP, and IIRC he isn’t on good terms with them.
The only thing that would make this a good hire is if he has a good relationship with recruits we want that we otherwise wouldn’t be able to get.

Wingspan is not a reliable indicator of “the vertical element” either. Standing reach is better (height plus arm length rather than just arm length). A 6!ft 8 guy with a 7 ft 4 wingspan is not going to be able to reach as high as a 7 ft guy with the same wingspan.
Where are you getting those numbers for keita?

For an NBA player his athleticism is average or less.

He’s very athletic. I’m not going to label him an athletic freak by NBA standards just yet because I don’t know what his numbers are. Athletically he has what it takes to play in the NBA at his size. I’ll leave it at that. He has decent shooting form. To be a good shooter you need good/consistent form and confidence in that form. Keita has decent…[Read more]

I don’t think we can say for sure at the moment. I think we got one guy at the 4 positions mentioned in the article who will DEFINITELY help us in Singer. The others are all promising additions that will likely be good depth pieces at the very least.
We haven’t picked up a solid backup QB at this point, but that honestly seems like kind of an…[Read more]

I don’t think this situation, and the situations you are referring to are analogous. I believe it will be quite different when a coach retires, leaving his protege in charge. I have no reason to believe that other than my own common sense.

People said the same thing about Fisch. He turned out well.

That is awesome. Like I said in the other Singer post, we’ll know for sure at the end of this year (assuming he stays healthy) if our WR issue is talent/scheme/coaching.
We know Singer is talented. We know he can catch the ball.
Another note – It will be great to have a legit deep threat on the team. That could help our run game in a very big way.

I guess we’ll know once and for all after this next year if our lack of production at WR is a talent issue or a scheme issue (assuming everyone stays healthy). We now have at least one guy who

chinngiskhaan replied to the topic I'm hearing Fisch to Washington, is this legit? in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
Yep. We want to win as many games as we possibly can. If we win our conference, we get into the playoff. The strength of our schedule means very little now.

If so, that is very good for us.

It was odd to me at the time that UCLA wanted the guy. We replaced him with someone who is at least as good.

it’s still more than doubled the score of a Pac12 basketball team. Would that have happened when Smith took over? Not even close. I’m not claiming this team is on their way to a Pac12 championship. I just think any argument that Smith isn’t doing a good job with this team is flat out wrong.

In case anyone was wondering, we won this game because we nearly doubled their rebound total for the game. We didn’t play especially great, but we absolutely dominated on the boards, which suggests we were playing our butts off. That’s good coaching fellas.

Yes, a harder schedule. Look up the stats. SOS is much higher for this year’s team than last year’s at this point in the season.
I can discount Battin’s stats from earlier in his career. I can discount them, and I did discount them. So what? He got worse year over year.
This is a stupid thing to argue over. I could go deeper into this with…[Read more]

Their career averages don’t tell the whole story. Battin got worse and worse pretty much every year at Utah. The player that Battin was as a freshman and Sophomore is not the player he was when he left Utah. For whatever reason, his confidence was destroyed and he became a reluctant shooter.
Battin’s Sr year averages: 17 minutes, 4.4 points, 3…[Read more]

He’s better than Battin by quite a bit. Battin wasn’t a good shooter (and often passed up open looks), defender, or distributor. Carlson isn’t great, but he is decent at a lot of things. It is also important to remember that Riley Battin started for us somehow, and Ben Carlson is our 4th big man.
