Parks was open, the ball was thrown way too late, just like every other throw tonight.

I will ask you like I asked everyone else. Who the hell else were they supposed to play that would have been a better option?

He did open the playbook, and Barnes threw picks each time when they should have been big gains or touchdowns. He could have called a better game, but he wasn’t the reason we lost. Not even close.

That just isn’t true. Rising has improved in his time here, as has Barnes, as did Huntley.
Again, who else were they supposed to play other than Barnes???
The coaches deserve blame for not recruiting better QBs to back up Rising. Ludwig deserves some blame for predictable playcalling, but he called enough good plays to win the game by two…[Read more]

Well, what is the point in blaming Barnes? He’s moving on. Whitt is focused on making his players better. Barnes is no longer his player.

Yes, the playcalling wasn’t great, but there were at least 10 plays that would have been first downs or touchdowns that Barnes completely screwed up on. One of the worst performances for a QB I’ve ever seen.
Boy am I glad I was too busy with law school to watch any of the games this season.

who else are they going to play? Bottari can’t make those plays either. Obviously, they felt he was the best option even though he sucks hairyballsack.

Two throws that should have been touchdowns were instead picked off because the first was thrown way too late, and the second was thrown 5 yards too far. Countless times there were open players, and he threw the ball way too late. On the 4th and 3 at the end he threw the ball too late.
Same story all year, the plays were there to be made, and…[Read more]

I really like this. I’d rather get guys like this than high rated guys that rode the bench at a P5 school. We know he can play. If he ends up just being a depth guy for us, that means our other running backs are actually legit.

I just looked at statistics from this year… Like I said in my original post though, the big question is who actually plays.
We’ll get some guys back from injury, and lose some others. Realistically, we are probably losing more than we are gaining, but the guys that are playing will be more fresh as well. I guess we’ll see.

I just looked at their team stats.
Their QB is basically Bryson Barnes. They’ve given up more than twice as many sacks as us this year (4 sacks per game). They have passed for 400 yards more than us this year.
They have run for a total of just over 1000 yards this year, less than half of our yearly total.
Our offense is about 50 yards per game…[Read more]

I have to believe the team wouldn’t be doing this if it was going to impact his availability next year. I’m sure they’ve done their homework.

yeah… that’s basically my point. He’s a good player, and I want him on the team, but if is going to cost more than he’s worth to keep him, let him go (assuming a booster would be willing to throw that same amount of money at another player we needed more).
separate point: it feels like the same dudes have been front and center on the team for a…[Read more]

What about his production this year suggests he’s elite? 4.8 yards per carry is good, but it isn’t elite. Jaylon glover averaged 4.2 yards per carry, and I’ve been under the impression that he not close to elite. Does .6 ypc make up the difference from adequate to elite? I don’t think so.
JJ may have elite potential, but you gotta be on the field…[Read more]

I think I would rather let him walk, and spend that NIL money on another player. We have plenty of running backs with talent, and it will be exciting to see what they can accomplish. Also, if we are going to entice any good receiver to come, we are going to need all the NIL money we can get. We could also spend NIL money on an experienced safety,…[Read more]

I’m more excited for this bowl game than I have been for any game since Oregon State TBH. It will be nice to get to see some fresh bodies in there for once. I’m most interested to see what Ritchie and Hall can do at the two safety spots. A lot of people have been really high on Ritchie, but I just haven’t been all that impressed with what he’s…[Read more]

Keita is great… but according to the ESPN box score he had 5 fouls in 10 minutes. WTF? My guess is, he’d be starting, or at least getting the same minutes as Lovering if he could stay on the court.

It is not revisionist, its just correct. Sitake wasn’t a bad DC, he wasn’t great though. He was just fine… and with Whitt as head coach I think just about any DC that was willing to do what Whitt wanted would be at least average.
There was at least one very important game every year where he completely crapped the bed with his game plan. It is…[Read more]

I don’t care that he coaches at TSPP. He’s a nice enough guy. I have no problem with him as a person, but he wasn’t a great coach for us. Those of you saying he was a good DC need to go back and look at how things went for us back then. It was clear that he was a placeholder DC until Scalley was ready.
