If I were to pick freshmen that might have a big impact, I would have picked those guys as well. Fano is our highest rated recruit in this class, and Matthews/blocker/Snowden all play at positions where there is some level of uncertainty about the talent level of the returning players.

If we ever have to change it (we won’t anytime soon, the Ute tribe members love the U), I hope we just drop the nickname and go by the name of the university and that’s it. The University of Utah. That’s it.

The top 1000? Somehow that doesn’t sound all that impressive. When you consider that most schools are bringing in around 20 guys a class, I would be more surprised if one of our scholarship recruits ISN’T a top 1000 player.

To be fair we don’t know that he did give all he had. Though I agree with your general point that he really wasn’t that bad. He wasn’t reliable on long-ish field goals, and wasn’t consistent with his kick-offs, but he was a serviceable kicker.
