Shohei brought in 123 runs (with 5 games to play, that could increase significantly). IOW, his bat helped his team more than Acuna’s did. Perhaps that is a simplistic way of looking at it, but I like Ohtani and know who he is, and I don’t even remember who Acuna plays for so…

Generally, I agree with you on this point. Mean-spirited religion jabs are not okay. I do have a few comments though:
1. If TSPP fans want religion talk (jokey or not) kept out of football, they should keep it out of football themselves, and they often don’t. Just a simple search on CB for the word “God” yields these recent results among many…[Read more]

The only thing that worries my about playing classic Utah football with Isaac is our running back health. How many more weeks of grinding out wins on the ground can our RB room handle? Mitchell and Vincent are both banged up. I’m sure Bernard is just as hurt as those two, but he’s a baller and plays through it… but he can only handle so…[Read more]

That won’t happen. TSPP is going to drop a couple on the road. LES is a tough place to win, but last night’s game was not indicative of TSPP talent. It was a fluke game. They have a good defense. That’s it.

Stop for a second and think about what you are asking. Why would two guys that collectively know just about everything there is to know about defense make the decision that they made? Why do they continually make that decision instead of what you seem to think is the better call? Is it possible that they have a good reason? Is it possible, maybe,…[Read more]

“it” didn’t allow the big plays. Guys trying to make the big play instead of keeping their man in front of them allowed the big plays.

No kidding. Saying something makes you cringe doesn’t mean you are offended by it. Cringe is what BYU does.

A lot of members of the Church feel a natural affinity for BYU. Some feel obligated to cheer for BYU. Outside of that, BYU is a highly regarded school academically. Their rankings are inflated by the fact that it is dirt cheap, but it is nevertheless a good school.
There are a lot of good reasons to attend/play football for BYU. Kalani is a…[Read more]

I wasn’t any happier about it than you… but we won. I don’t think you can really say it wasn’t the right call because like I said… we WON THE GAME, which is the entire point of playing.

It must be brutal to watch your team only have the ball for a total of 18 minutes in a game.

I hear you, but if it wasn’t the statistically smart thing to do, Kyle wouldn’t be doing it. He pays a guy to stand there and tell him the right choice mathematically to make sure his emotions don’t get the better of him.
I agree, most of the time, if we keep our foot on the gas defensively, we come away with a win that looks better than the one…[Read more]

The good news is, the drop-off is massive because Micah is so damn good right now, better than any of us thought he was going to be.

Your OL (pass pro anyway) did much better than most. Our defensive line is among the best in the country every year.
This is Utah football. Generally poor offense, generally punishing defense.

Yes, that game could have easily been a 30 point victory for us. It wasn’t as close as it looked. The only reason his QB looked better in the 4th is because we went to a prevent defense.
But really, what is he supposed to say? He knows the truth, but it is more productive for him to focus on what they could have done better.

You all are at least 95% sure he isn’t going to get re-injured? I’m pretty sure he’s had to come out of more than 5% of the games he’s played in. I don’t care to do the math, and I could be wrong… but it feels like I’m not wrong.
I think there is at least a 25% chance he leaves the game with some kind of injury (more likely it will be a…[Read more]

By that I mean: plays until he is no longer needed.
It seems like one hit to his hand will take him out of the game. No? If you take that, plus his propensity for taking unnecessary risks with his body, I gotta think the odds of him getting hurt again are higher than we would like to admit.

I’m going to flip if Gillman tries to tackle someone with his head or shoulder again. Dude needs to come to the realization that he wasn’t born with Phocomelia of the arms.
