I think it was a lack of effort during practice. BUT, I also think Gillman is not good. He doesn’t know how to tackle, and he got burned a time or two as well. The other guys are all young, and it is excusable IMO.

chinngiskhaan replied to the topic Poaching Jay Hill in the forum Football 4 months, 3 weeks ago
I don’t know what Hill would do but IF Kalani is still the HC at Utah, but isn’t doing great, I think it would be smart to join Scalley and Co at Utah and wait for Kalani to get fired or another HC job to open up. He could do that at Utah, but he would risk getting dragged down by the rest of TSPP football. Of course, you could also argue that…[Read more]

chinngiskhaan replied to the topic Possible future Utah OC? in the forum Football 4 months, 3 weeks ago
Not a terrible choice, but wouldn’t be option #1 IMO. I’m honestly excited to see Scalley take over after Whitt and Ludwig move on. I am interested to see who he picks for OC/DC and the rest of the staff.
I would be fine with Harding as OC. He is arguably our highest performing recruiter right now, and he knows the offense. I would also be fine…[Read more]

1. Bernard is an excellent example of what can happen if you stick with a team despite seemingly being overlooked. He’s finally getting a chance to be the #1 back, and he is delivering. I’m happy for him.
2. Does anyone know what (if anything) is going on with Glover (the running back)? Is he hurt or in the doghouse for some reason, or is he just…[Read more]

I think we throw a couple of bombs early and build a 14 pt lead, then play conservative the rest of the game running the ball as much as possible.

I agree with this to a certain extent, but I would add that there are reasons to want more wide receiver production outside of simply appealing to WR recruits. It is better for our offense to diversify.

So does Vele’s success confirm what we already kind of knew? The only question at this point is how much of it is a Rising problem, and how much of it is a Ludwig/Whitt problem? Of course, its only a problem if you care about WR production. If wins is what you want, it isn’t necessarily an issue.

My thoughts on the game
Coaching – excellent coaching this game, Scalley gets an A+ for sure. He made Baylor’s offense look absolutely awful. Whitt and Co did what they had to do to get out of there with a win in a somewhat sticky situation.
QB – Rising played great. He had one run where he looked nearly as quick as his old self. Great to see.…[Read more]

Fair points. I will say that Raiola and Wilson are not in the same situation. Clearly there is a talent difference, but the difference in preparation is also apparent. Wilson would be better if he had an entire offseason to prep as the starting quarterback.
If he gets the start next week instead of Rising, I think he will perform much better than…[Read more]

If you are going to whine about TSPP, there is a category for that (IIRC).

chinngiskhaan started the topic How realistic is it to expect a college QB to survey all of their options in the forum Football 5 months ago
and throw to the best option?
It seems to me that College QBs routinely miss the most open guy on the field. I assume this is because they know where they are going with the ball before the play starts and who their backup option is if option A doesn’t work out and option C is run/throw away.
Do most QBs even attempt to look at all their options…[Read more]

haha! Not just the sound of his voice, but the cadence and phrasing he uses are still the same. He is the definition of consistency.
