right, which I essentially said in my post. It isn’t the player I’m angry at for taking money. It is these uber wealthy people that could do so much good with their money that instead choose to spend it on stuff like this.

what the heck? A million for being a below average college basketball player? If that is true it honestly makes me angry. Not because he’s getting paid, but because there are people in this world that would rather throw millions of dollars at their favorite basketball team to pay their players rather than using that money for good. There is a lot…[Read more]

Wherever Jay Hill is coaching the ST advantage should go to his team. I know he isn’t the ST coach at BYU, but he’s just so dang good in that regard I can’t overlook the fact that he’s at BYU. For that reason alone I’d give the ST advantage to TSPP

lol… that was biased wishful thinking/tongue in cheek joking on my part. I am Mongolian in every way other than genetics so my opinion on all things Mongolia can’t really be trusted.
Also, he is a great passer, and he would have been a solid piece on a good team.

Am I wrong? I have yet to see any justification other than bluster for why I’m wrong. I don’t know why I’m getting downvoted other than people just not liking to face reality. So far we have one guy who scored 20-ish a game playing for a tiny school, a guy who started half his games at mighty SLCC, a guy who was in and out of the rotation for us…[Read more]

Seems like a decent player with some room to grow. We now have 4 guys. Dawes, Okonkwo, Jackson, and Brown. Seems like a decent MWC team so far. We better get a headliner or we are really going to struggle next year. That is, unless one of these guys suddenly blossoms into a star.

that’s great to hear. The intent of my post was not to poo-poo him or our current efforts. I just mentioned that what I have read (mostly here) is that recruiting isn’t going so well at the moment. Obviously there is lots of time still, and I hope we can take advantage of the momentum we got from Jensen’s hire and the additional $ for…[Read more]

I think that kind of attitude is bullshit tbh. Why treat the players like that? Mike has valuable skills that could have helped us win games this year. It is pretty clear at this point that we sucked because of the coach and the complete lack of program support from fans and boosters.
I agree with the rest of your post, but I don’t fault these…[Read more]

When rotations are as inconsistent as they were under Smith, it is really hard to develop confidence in your abilities. If you know you are going to get certain minutes whether you make shots or not, you feel more comfortable shooting.

He is a great passer, probably the best we’ve had since Delon (at least). The problem is, he isn’t very good at anything else. His ball handling is just barely good enough, his athleticism is just barely good enough, and his shooting is inconsistent (strange, because he has no issues with his form, and he has soft touch).
In the handful of games…[Read more]

Many of us are Utah fans for those very reasons Krindor. The implication that not attending/cheering for TSPP somehow made me unworthy is why I am a Ute fan. I know most TSPP fans aren’t like that, but there are enough of them that it drove me away.

that’s funny, becasue Andre was not a good shooter in college (much closer to being bad than good). I can imagine a guy like Chris wouldn’t have the softest shot in the world, so Andre’s may have sounded softer, but he wasn’t known for having a soft touch.

I’m impartial to Andre Miller and Michael Doleac. When Chris Jones was coaching with Majerus he would do summer camps at a place near my home, and he brought Andre and Mike to play with us. He always had those two do a three point shooting contest. He would have us all vote on who we thought would win, and if our guy lost, we had to run.…[Read more]

Seems like a good defender. He doesn’t have a janky shot, so his three point shooting isn’t a total liability. It will be nice to have another guy that isn’t so three point line oriented.
We desperately need someone to carry the load down low on defense, and we need more three point shooting. If we can do that we should be much improved with…[Read more]

I agree he deserves more credit, but I’m not going to excuse the last two years as bad luck. Sure, part of it was bad luck, and I don’t think Whitt is as much the problem as some of you seem to think, but it is ultimately his responsibility.
Our offense wasn’t just okay when Rising was healthy, it was very good. The scheme fit our personnel…[Read more]

why are you even arguing about this? IDGAF what position he plays. I have no inside knowledge, no expertise. I am just parroting what I read in an article.
If you want my opinion on your second point, look at comments to Proud’s recent post that address essentially exactly that. I don’t care enough to repeat them here.

Vaki had more than one or two plays he ran effectively, and he was a physical freak of nature. Vaki did a good job of running inside and out, and catching the ball. With Vaki it wasn’t obvious what the play would be when he came in the game. That is what I don’t want. I don’t want a Dixon or Stanley situation where everyone watching knows exactly…[Read more]

Yes, that is exactly what I’m getting at. If he’s going to be integrated into our offense, and on the field consistently in a variety of situations, I see no problem with it assuming he produces. If we just have a package for him where he comes in in certain situations with a couple of possible plays, that will be detrimental to the offense.

Eric Weddle is the exception to the rule and always has been. So the best player in Ute history made it work against vastly inferior competition. Is that supposed to mean its a good idea now, with these players?
Also, you are ignoring the last point in my post. I said let your best players carry the team as much as possible, which is exactly what…[Read more]

Whether the previous staff figured it out or not, they sure talked about doing it an awful lot, and they sure tried. Visions of Dixon, or Stanley being subbed in for the ONE PLAY they were known for keep coming to mind. I’m well aware that this could be successful, and maybe the previous coaching staff was just terrible at it, but they tried it,…[Read more]
