did someone forgot to tell him that Utah was guaranteed to have the #4 offense in the country next season?

2008 National Champ replied to the topic T-Lyons back in the portal in the forum Football 4 months ago
somehow it just seems wrong to have more threads about a kid leaving or staying than he has career catches

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Utah Lands Breakout Utah State Transfer WR Otto Tia in the forum Football 4 months ago
The bar is pretty low for what a WR transfer to Utah needs to produce. When you consider that two kids this site loved who transferred from Syracuse ended up with the same total catches that I did.,, But I ended up with less picks so maybe I should let Whitt know that I still have eligibility?

The rumors also say Troy Taylor said what most of us do, by
yeargame 3 you’ll be running Whitt’s offense, not yours.FIFY

2008 National Champ replied to the topic The first round of the playoffs was really boring in the forum Football 4 months ago
It’s only proof that in those specific circumstances, one team scored more than the other. It’s a single data point and the outcome is no more predictive than if I flipped a quarter, it came up heads, and I proclaimed to the world that it was proof that every time a quarter was flipped heads would be the result.
Did the “better” teams win? Or…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic The first round of the playoffs was really boring in the forum Football 4 months ago
The score of a single game is the silliest argument for “deserve to be there” and that it still exists after ~ 30 years of BCS and CFP means that people still don’t understand the difference between Best Team and National/Tournament Champion.
Blowouts happen in every sport, in every competition and are 10 times more common than exciting…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Zurbrugg commits in the forum Football 4 months ago
If we just limit the evaluation of the portal ins/outs to recruiting rankings, Utah is down across the board from the “deepest and most talented” roster Whitt has ever put together and it’s not even close. We won’t get a true indication of whether the staff and the ranking services are better at identifying talent the 2nd time around until August…[Read more]

Mitchell ran a 10.81

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Mikey Matthews in the forum Football 4 months ago
Matthews’s stats for Cal might not be better than Utah 2023, but I fail to see how he would have gotten 30 catches in the 2024 iteration of the Utah offense.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Curious about how many plan to watch the CFP this weekend in the forum Football 4 months ago
Until every school has the same available path to the playoff it will always be an Invitational and only slightly more legitimate than any previous version

2008 National Champ replied to the topic New TE Coming? in the forum Football 4 months ago
Unless the laws are different in Utah, wouldn’t the information your are trying to find be under seal since he would have been a juvenile at the time?

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Dampier or Wilson? in the forum Football 4 months ago
RG3 never rushed for 1k in a season.
I did find this from the BCS era. Couple more Heisman’s on that list if they’d wanted to expand the range to this century.

2016 is an odd line to draw for the comparison

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Rank the coaching changes in the forum Football 4 months ago
I’ll use the theory from my HS Biology teacher: Everyone starts with an A, whether they keep it or not depends entirely on their results.
To keep that A, I’d use the following statistical benchmarks:
RB coach – Top 2 rushers combine for an average of 1500 yards per season coached
WR coach – Top 2 receivers combine for an average of 1250 yards…[Read more] -
2008 National Champ replied to the topic Looks like we're hiring Mark Atuaia from wazzu as RB coach in the forum Football 4 months ago
Well, I got my wish that if Whitt came back it would be with an overhauled Offensive staff.
Now I wish that I had been more specific and the overhaul wouldn’t be with (3) former players from the parochial school.,,

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Why Paying Players Hasn't Fixed College Sports in the forum Football 4 months ago
The students did not sign something giving away their rights
That’s not true. Students gave away their rights to NIL which was clearly stipulated when they signed their scholarship agreements. O’Bannon v NCAA is what changed that.
The scholarship agreements were binding on the student because their Parent / Guardian also signed and that hasn’t changed.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Something interesting and also painful I found. in the forum Football 4 months ago
The offensive chart had Utah in the lower left. There were only 6 teams worse on both axes (axesses? axis?). The word is pronounced ack-cees but it doesn’t look right when I type it. No matter how it’s spelled it was putrid and the chart backs it up.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Current Transfer Portal – Leaving in the forum Football 4 months ago
I didn’t like the attention it got at the time for those very reasons. A leased truck isn’t a tangible benefit. And who is going to take that over someone else offering 10k more in cash?
I just think the Ute collective outsmarted themselves in thinking that something they would find valuable in their world – a company car which is a nice perk…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic I think the portal for Utah is gonna make today: in the forum Football 4 months ago
haha, didn’t even notice that. I guess you did use the possessive for entry
I think there will be more entries than commitments. Unless I have the rules wrong, the only people officially in the portal before today were grad eligible. The announcements we’ve seen were “intend to enter” but only the schools can officially put their names in the…[Read more]
