I remember when Whitt had the reputation for being willing to run anything at any time so the other team always had to keep on their toes. Not sure I can trace that going away to Ludwig coming in or Sitake leaving but it’s been more noticeable every year that he is taking less and less chances.

I know he goes for a lot of 4th downs but those…[Read more]

  • The late calls have been going on for at least the last two seasons. Most offenses will stick with their own plan since it can really screw up your tempo switching your own timing to take advantage of that.

I’m sure ARod has been planning for the late calls since this game was announced. He did a couple of things that I really liked. They used…[Read more]

  • follow up:

Let’s be clear on the circumstances. Yormark offered the 4 corner schools because they were the best available schools which would also increase the overall conference compensation.

The second reason is that he could envision the same west coast conference that I just laid out with 7 former PAC teams and a few MW. And I beg you…[Read more]

  • Something y’all have to more honest about is, Utah had no where else to go
That’s not technically true. The Big 12 was the best of a lot of perceived bad options. It did not represent an increase in compensation from previous (which I know was no longer available), it did not represent an increase in competition, and joining after Texas & O…[Read more]

Based on my experience, teams that are going through adversity are always at the tipping point and it doesn’t take much to push them back into the failure cycle. It’s an early game on the road so I assume the team will come out focused and hyped.

But as noted philosopher Mike Tyson once said: Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the…[Read more]

It’s the timing. Your first post was at the same time we had a bunch of new accounts whose only intent was to rub the loss in. If you don’t fit into that mold, keep posting and you’ll eventually earn acceptance just like Jim McMahon, Ted Lasso and even Matt have. I’m sure I’m missing a couple.

Matt also came in strong with the rhetoric but…[Read more]

  • we’ve turned into a society of poor losers and worse winners. and i’m not particularly happy with the development even though I know tilting at that particular windmill is long past having a chance to affect.

  • What precisely is the issue Utah fans have with the conference?

It’s not a conference we wanted to join. It’s as simple as that. The point is no deeper than “I’m attracted to blondes” and you are arguing that I’m stupid for not wanting brunettes instead.

I have no problem with the schools in the Big12. But that doesn’t mean I want a…[Read more]

  • I’m not trying to call you out specifically or with any animosity. I have no problem with comments about officiating. I’ve already said above that every call is subjective. It’s just the wording you used that takes it from “making a call I don’t agree with” to a deliberate attempt to affect an outcome.

  • Notre Dame’s not a blue blood? Penn State? I think you’ve lost the narrative and are just arguing for the sake of arguing.

  • Honest question(s): If the Big 12 was such a great conference, why did your Longhorns try to get out of it for around 2 decades? Why did Missouri, Colorado, A&M, Oklahoma, Nebraska and your team willingly leave the schools that are still there?

I hear a lot about how bad Oregon State and Washington State are but how are they different than Tech,…[Read more]

  • just to be clear: you believe that official made a premeditated decision to throw a flag against Utah on that play to give the parochial school a chance to save their undefeated season?

Because that’s what this fragment means: was a case of an official deciding he was more important than the players

  • I cringe when people want to bring the refs into the conversation. The reality is that every call is subjective. And even though there are a lot of people on the field calling a game, they can’t see everything from your frame of reference.

Vaughn held. The parochial school defender went high on Rose. Were either egregious? No. Were they…[Read more]

I need to request the ability to upvote more than once for a limited time. You’ve had a couple that deserve OnlyU level approval

  • Robo is correct. Online is just the latest and most efficient delivery system for the superiority complex.

My first real interaction with BYU fan complex was after the 1988 game. In my mind, the rivalry was no different than the Apple Cup I’d grown up with. But as I found out the next day when my girlfriend dragged me to her church, I wasn’t…[Read more]

  • Thank you. Now that I know that everything I believed was wrong, I’ll be able to act and think in the manner you find most appropriate. Which fanbase is next on your quest for perfection?

  • The fine is ultimately against the University, since that is who has a relationship with the Big 12 conference. Harlan is just acting as the University representative. If Utah felt his comments were a fireable offense and got rid of him, the University would still be on the hook for the fine.

Saying that he personally is being fined is out of…[Read more]

  • You never know…Utah splitting from the Big XII might provide impetus for other name schools to return to a regionally based conference.

That’s what I would hope my 12 team idea on the other thread would accomplish. These 14, 16, 18 team conferences aren’t sustainable when they don’t have similar geography and rarely play each other. One s…[Read more]

  • My personal rule when on another team’s board is that I’m there to talk about their school and will discuss my team only in whatever context they bring up. Just the way I was brought up: never go somewhere empty handed, always thank your host, and don’t pee on someone else’s rug.

  • The problem with trolls is that banning them only gives them what they want, which is to run back to their favourite board and talk about how petty UteHub and it’s posters are. Bullies win whether you react or ignore, at least until you punch them in the nose.

Tony, you’ve been more than fair with everyone who has wanted to post here. You let…[Read more]
