so the Northwestern Bio is wrong. It appears they are only referring to the schools he coached at before his Northwestern stint which did not match up with his previous success.

your math doesn’t work. he spent 4 years at Northwestern and never averaged higher that 24.7 points or 360.9 yards in a season. You can’t have 7 of 9 be at your higher values. Were you looking at the defense averages for those years?

  • Whitt’s in charge of his own legacy. There isn’t anything any of us can say that will tarnish it. He built it up by winning games and it will only be diminished if he stays in the job but doesn’t keep producing at the level he has made everyone accustomed to.

  • Well, I want to blame the coach that didn’t have someone already in place so that the true freshman QB was not needed but apparently he’s finally left the building. He didn’t empty the trash from under the kitchen sink before leaving though so someone else has to deal with the stink, even if they didn’t make the mess.

We saw his offense in the bowl game last year and I don’t remember being envious. Pretty much the only difference from what Utah was running was not having Barnes at QB.

  • Agree. If this was an offseason hire, the first thing I would do is look at what his offenses have done and post it for all to interpret however they chose. When did information become a bad thing?

He was the OC for a lot of bad Northwestern offenses. And if the rest of this season is an audition for the 2025 OC job, it will be very relevant…[Read more]

Gave up a bunch of chunk plays to be sure and never figured out how to stop the WR wildcat. When was the last time a team trying to finish off a Utah defense relied on a WR running the ball to make it happen?

Nine different players touched the ball for TCU on Saturday night. Only the QB’s didn’t have a rush or reception for 10 yards or more and…[Read more]

I just can’t see blaming the D for anything this season. We just saw a game where they lowered their season average in ppg by half a point and are now 12th in the nation. At the same time if the combination of offense, defense and special teams were able to put up exactly 25 points in each game this year, they’d be 6-1.

    25 ppg is all I’m asking…[Read more]

  • even if the next guy calls all of the exact same plays as TCU but in a different order, it will be a huge improvement. And there’s really not much more you can do in a week. Same playbook, different calls and the rhythm to how they are called. Maybe slightly different substitution patterns. The real changes will happen between Houston and the…[Read more]

  • Not much choice after what the players have been posting online.

  • He can’t stand with the other QB’s because he is in a boot and needs the cart to get around. Putting him front and center like they did last year would be dangerous.

The problem is that the TV cameras are always going to find him, even though he’s a non-entity as far as the remainder of the season. And I think it was O’Toole he was talking to…[Read more]

  • Apples and oranges. Colleges only get 20 hours a week so there’s only so much they can do. And that time is only available during spring ball and the season.

There’s a reason Ludwig says it takes two offseasons to fully install his offense and Mike Leach claimed he could teach an Air Raid in an hour. You can try to do a little bit of…[Read more]

  • wow, I’m sorry you’ve had such an eventful month or so. puts into perspective arguing about kids playing a game.

    Welcome back and speedy recovery

  • Pete Carroll, when he took over the SC job, knew that he could get all the skill players he would ever need within a 2 hour car ride of campus. What he did that fixed that program was he made recruiting the best line players in the country his top priority and then ran a scheme that allowed those players to impose their will on less talented…[Read more]

  • I go back to the bye week during the 2023 season. It was announced that Rising was done for the year so the splitting of the reps BS didn’t need to go on any longer. I remember saying on here that my hope was that they would look at the tape, figure out what it was that they were doing well, and then lean into it. Instead, they moved Vaki to…[Read more]

Stanley was the decoy when Parks got ploughed and would have also gotten trucked himself if it hadn’t been a fake. It was almost like TCU knew what was coming with Stanley split wide. I’m not sure how that could be since Utah does such a good job with their personnel packages to make sure that tendencies aren’t a giveaway. Guess TCU just got…[Read more]

  • he already had a worse record over his previous 13 games than Helton had in any 13 game period during his tenure. Amazing that damage the losing to Bryson Barnes can have on a program 🙂

  • look at the source Tony

  • Ferentz didn’t fire his son. In lieu of forcing him to fire, the AD put in his kid’s contract that if certain season averages weren’t met, his contract would be terminated. And when the bar of just being able to run a top 100 offense for one season was to big a burden, the stipulation was enforced.
