First I’ve heard about his sister dying so I’m only going by the history available at the time

Thanks. The poor plays were coming so fast it was hard to remember the order

You’ve cracked the code. The problem the last 2 years has been lack of fan support

Joe Williams quit the team in 2016 because he couldn’t hang onto the ball. 4 weeks later, after all of the other scholarship backs were injured, he came back and fumbles weren’t an issue anymore. Thomas also overcame the early yips.
That’s probably the easiest thing to fix with a RB. You can’t teach them to like contact, pass blocking takes…[Read more]

it does take away from the “stayed committed” part of @UTE98‘s post though

so everything else I named is just fine and the only problem is that Bernard isn’t 230 pounds?

Before we build Bernard a statue next to Whitt’s, let’s not forget that he entered the portal and had committed to Deion.

Didn’t Wilson’s fumble/pick also come right after a goal line stop and before they scored?

If the sales pitch was come in and hold a clipboard because it’s Rising’s job no matter what you do, it’s no wonder the only guy to come in during the last 2 offseasons was a 5 star bust who had to drop down to the FCS level and barely completed 50% of his passes there.

Yeah, but since the ball will be spinning the opposite direction the receivers will have more drops 🙂

2008 National Champ replied to the topic We strayed from the K-Whitt formula in 2017 and went 7-6 in the forum Football 2 months, 2 weeks ago
It’s not for lack of effort. 32.3 passes/ 35.4 runs per game. About 3 plays closer to 50/50 than norm but not completely out of line. To me, the question would be why isn’t Utah running the ball better this year?
Defenses not respecting Utah’s throw game, only one effective back, Utah’s interior O line not being adept at run blocking, TE’s not…[Read more]

2017 was also a completely new OLine after the 2016 crew all went to the league.

These aren’t linear degradations:
P – has been subpar since Wishnowsky left
K – has been subpar since Gay left
LB – has underperformed since Lloyd/Sewell
DB – has seen flashes of brilliance but not up to the standard of the 2019 squad that had 4 drafted. Other than Phillips/Bishop who would have been anything more than a backup on the best Utah…[Read more] -

If anything, this season has lowered Wilson’s value. His warts have been put on display for everyone to see. No top program is going hard after an undersized kid who can’t cope with pressure in his face.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Scalley vs Whitt in the forum Football 2 months, 2 weeks ago
It really comes down to whether or not anyone thinks Whitt is capable of calling it a day before there is no shred of doubt left that someone else would be better running the program.
I’m of the opinion that he should get to finish out his current contract if, and only if, he is willing to completely overhaul his staff. I just can’t see him…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Scalley is recruiting future coaches. in the forum Football 2 months, 2 weeks ago
That’s the big news? That Scalley’s rolodex is so small he’s contacting local coaches to be on his staff? How can people think he’s not going to be Whitt 2.0 if he isn’t trying to find the best available assistants to fulfill his vision for the program

I thought it was illegal to have weddings in the state of Utah on holy war weekend?

I’m curious which of those two things you find most likely? To me they are opposite sides of the same coin so I’m interested why it’s one or the other

You’ve hit the nail with that one. Harlan has already hired the next coach. The only thing we are really discussing should be timing. If Scalley doesn’t work out, then you change the AD and let the new guy hire Scalley’s replacement.

You may see some not sign during the early period if they perceive, or are told, that there is a pending HC change. The main problem they will be facing is whether there are still landing spots for them elsewhere. The class is mainly upper 3 stars so it’s not like they can write their own ticket at other P4 schools. Does changing to a G5 make…[Read more]
