Man, they’re pissed it’s not a night white-out game. Should still be a great time

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Difficult Offense? in the forum Football 2 months, 3 weeks ago
Huntley had the improvisation down but what really made that 2019 offense go was him getting hurt against SC. The pass blocking was really subpar that year and he was having to escape immediate rushers constantly but with his lower body injuries he couldn’t be the runner he was in previous years. So he made the first man miss, found his single…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Difficult Offense? in the forum Football 2 months, 3 weeks ago
You hadn’t heard that? It’s been one of the most repeated stories from 2021. That on that 4th down call, Ludwig sent in a play but when the team came out in the wrong formation, Whitt called for timeout. When they asked what play Rising thought was called he said flea-flicker. The coaches looked at each other and decided that would be a great…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Utah at Houston thoughts. in the forum Football 2 months, 3 weeks ago
After the UCLA game and then the first half of Oregon State it was clear that Johnson could not make even the simplest throws with any consistency. Even if Barnes could only provide 75% of what Rising did, he was the only option for the rest of the season.

I have been making that exact argument for the last 6 years. When Ludwig has an accurate QB that can improvise with his legs when the planned options are not available, his “system” seems to work really well. Those types aren’t exactly dime a dozen at the college level.

Without being in the QB room, none of us can answer that. Ludwig himself says that it takes two FULL offseasons to completely install his offense.
One possibility is the number of decisions that a QB needs to make on each play. Another could be having 16 different ways to run to the A gap. A third could be the number of available options on…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Rose in the forum Football 2 months, 3 weeks ago
Rose was also the guy who was QB1B coming out of spring ball in ’23. He had the inside track in fall camp should Rising not be able to go per all reports and OnlyU. Then Bishop crunches him during a scrimmage and ever since he doesn’t know the playbook.
I never realized that a kidney (liver?) surgery could have such an effect on playbook…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Rose in the forum Football 2 months, 3 weeks ago
What do Brandon Rose, Nate Johnson, Peter Costelli, Bryson Barnes, JaQuinden Jackson, Sam Huard, Mack Howard and Cooper Justice all have in common?
What do Brian Johnson, Cam Rising and Tyler Huntley all have in common?
hint: one set of names were recruited and coached up by one man. the other set were just coached up by the same man. Perhaps…[Read more]

Thank you. Literally everyone did not think Utah was going to be fantastic.

5 picks, won the game by 28 points with only a little over 217 yards by their offense. Man I miss the days when Utah’s defense ate turnovers like they were skittles. That was the game changer for a lot of years

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Watermark YTD is 28 pts per game in the forum Football 2 months, 3 weeks ago
5 days. Not even a full week. That’s how long it took to shift the blame for the performance of the offense this season from the coach who stepped down to the players.
It’s your team, own it, can’t blame Ludwig for the miserable performances that been represented on the field

his contract states that he gets 1.0 for retiring and just under that per annum for 5 years of consulting. He doesn’t get to roll his salary over into his retirement package so the 6.5 MM per is what he would be leaving on the table for any unfulfilled years.

that’s some serious Whitt mythology you’ve got going there. He’s going to pass up 20 mil because it will be more important his grand-kids mow lawns to learn the power of hard work.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Should Whitt stay or go? in the forum Football 2 months, 4 weeks ago
well said Jim. The future can’t start if Utah is going to be stuck in the past.

for him personally, I’m sure you’re right that he has whatever he needs already. But this is generational money. An extra 20 mil can make sure that his great-grandkids are never wanting

Even insinuating that he might not be better than ever or lead the team to an undefeated record was worthy of no less than 10 down votes.

The Legend of Drew Lisk can’t ever be understated. He and Ty Jordan were the only things worth remembering from that disaster of a season.
And I’m talking about the Covid protocols and everything else that went into that year, not anything the team did wrong.
