2008 National Champ replied to the topic Coaches confident in Isaac Wilson in the forum Football 6 days, 22 hours ago
What else are they going to say about the guy who is most likely to start the next game? that he sucks and they have no confidence in him being able to put his shoes on the proper feet, let alone call the right play or hand the ball of to the correct person?
Bigger issue to me is that if Wilson plays Saturday, you’ve effectively burned his…[Read more]

It always has been.
– Hugh McElhenny was quoted in the 1950’s that he had to take a pay cut when he went pro
– The original college football teams in the 1890’s paid their playersThe notion of the “scholar-athlete” was something the NCAA came up with so they could enforce draconian rules on kids while expanding their power

He went to grad school at Utah but I don’t know if he got another degree there before he got caught at the Cottonwood Mall.

Ted Bundy? you kinda went off the rails there at the end.
Caleb Williams was making the bulk of his money off national ads like Dr. Pepper, somewhere in the 10MM range. Their collective probably didn’t need to pay him anything.

Rose probably. Huard is up in the air but it shouldn’t take a 4th year QB that long to learn the offense. At most, it’s just getting the different terminology down.
For as good as Huard’s pedigree was, he got chances his freshman year at UW and didn’t do well. And he didn’t exactly tear it up after dropping to FCS. He throws a pretty ball but…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Let's give Wilson a chance in the forum Football 1 week, 1 day ago
It’s odd. We have all acknowledged that Whitt reverts to coachspeak whenever possible and doesn’t give out any information that he doesn’t have to. And yet, some will absolutely go to the mats on anything that he says at a presser.
Wilson throwing 40 yards downfield to a double covered Parks tells me that the playbook wasn’t contracted.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Cam shouldn't play Saturday (even if available) in the forum Football 1 week, 1 day ago
There was a time when QB’s were taught to throw with their Index finger off the ball. If that is the limit of the damage, it shouldn’t affect his throwing as much as middle or ring finger would.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Dorian Singer is a Ludwig WR.. in the forum Football 1 week, 2 days ago
it was a superb throw and not an easy catch. but a big-time receiver will make sure that ball doesn’t hit the ground. I’m sure Singer was kicking himself all weekend about that drop and apologized during today’s film review.

why wait for someone to actually suggest such a thing when there are strawmen just begging to be taken down?

Is that the language? I seem to remember his last deal being that rate for all years left on his contract but I’m not remembering a specific time limit after he steps down.

We’ve seen Bernard have big games before and then get hurt the following week or go back to a reduced workload.
There isn’t anyone on here that doesn’t want Bernard to take over as RB1 and be the next great Utah back. It’s just hard to count on it at this point.

The video was exactly what @Rick Walker was referring to. I assumed you were unaware based on your response but perhaps you were being deliberately obtuse

2008 National Champ replied to the topic New Poll: Week 2 Grade – Baylor at Utah in the forum Football 1 week, 2 days ago
It’s a C. Don’t focus on the score. It was a typical 2nd game of the season where some things worked, some didn’t.
Baylor is a team that is expected to struggle to get to .500 this year and the game was never in doubt so Utah did what they were expected to.Now if we want to talk about someone from that game that should get an A+++++.,, man…[Read more]

the problem wasn’t the plays that were called for Wilson, or also Rising after the made field goal, it was the setup. the first 10-15 scripted plays all included formation shifts, motion and misdirection. After that it was just lineup and run the called play. At some point you have to try to either fool the other guy or at least make them think…[Read more]

It certainly shows the importance of actually playing the games instead of letting the talking heads and blogs decide the fates before a single snap has occurred.
