If I knew the answer, I’d be getting paid a lot more and I’d be in the coach hiring biz. The main difference between Napier and Cignetti is the latter had unprecedented success at a couple of places that hadn’t had much before, then transitioned a top FCS team to FBS without a drop in performance. He’d achieved every where he’d been given a…[Read more]

and not an in-house hire who spent multiple years as the Head Coach in Waiting. I keep saying that there are good coaches out there if you are willing to find them.

luck in a single instance can be true but it’s not sustainable over the long term. at some point you have to credit their focus and preparation. things can turn around for them just as quickly but I wouldn’t attribute that to bad luck.

If they kept Helton 5 years past his expiration date because they couldn’t afford the buyout, Riley ain’t going nowhere he don’t wanna. SC is still paying for all those scandals

Every year at least one preseason top 10 team finishes unranked. Florida State is taking it to new levels though. Can we make a pact that Utah is never higher than 15 preseason? A couple of losses are acceptable from that position but at least you can also get forward momentum.
Oh, and add Tyler Shough to list of QB’s available in the portal…[Read more]

I can certainly see why many of you would rather be mowing lawns or other chores instead of watching your team right now. Booo! bring on the damn game

lot’s of losses to go around. Iowa State still plays Texas Tech and K State. Lose one other + Utah, Utah holds the tie-breaker. parochial school has easiest remaining schedule but stub their toes + lose Utah, Utah holds the tie-breaker. No one in the conference is unbeatable.
There are plenty of scenarios where Utah makes the CCG since the…[Read more]

It’s also why trying to project improvement across the board for your own team while assuming that everyone else will repeat the previous year is a fool’s errand. No one really knows who is going to improve or regress until the games are actually played.

The other night I went through College Football Reference to see if a notion that I had was true. I’d mentioned on another thread that the ST had been regressing since Jay Hill stopped being in charge of it. Then I though to myself, it also seems like turnovers have been more infrequent since around the same time which would also be when Sitake…[Read more]

happened in the last 7 days? I almost can’t remember what happened in Tempe.
The playoffs start tonight. Ludwig’s gonna Ludwig, Whitt’s gonna Whitt. Every game is an eliminator. I’m truly excited to see it play out in a way I haven’t been for a couple of years,

Utah folklore suggests that the team plays better in night games, especially at home. Turn that 1-2 record around!

Don’t live in the area, so no. Brownies are chocolate on top of chocolate with more chocolate. It’s like fudge where even people who put nuts on them still aren’t able to screw them up. Even overcooked brownies still taste good, albeit on the crunchy side. Gas stations have good brownies.
Now if you told me they had world class cinnamon…[Read more]

i’d say it’s more about refocusing coming out of the bye. Rangel looked pretty bad against Utah.

and another pick by the parochial school. “get points before the half and then start with the ball after the break. could be a two score swing,” he said fully knowing that statement is no more profound than anything spouted by a talking head.,,
