2008 National Champ replied to the topic How good is ASU? in the forum Football 3 months, 2 weeks ago
The QB is also someone Utah offered out of the portal last offseason. One has to wonder how much the decision to name Rising the starter no matter what played into him choosing ASU, or any of the other QB’s Utah might have wanted?
If you look at it from outside Utah fandom, 2024 Utah should have been an attractive landing spot for a RS…[Read more]

The same schools that set up the NCAA and allowed it to become the disgrace it is will be in charge of setting up whatever new entity is dreamed up. I daresay that will be more of the same

every coach wants to convince their team that they are being overlooked. even Saban would do it.
But you shouldn’t need a loss to get your team to believe in your message. And at this point in his career, Whitt should have a plan for every situation because he’s experienced them all.

it would be nice if after 20 years of being the head coach, he didn’t need to get into this position to thrive though.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic OnlyU in the forum Football 3 months, 2 weeks ago
I’m willing to bust on OnlyU when he’s wrong but you also have to look at the source and realize that he’s evaluating things from inside the silo. So it’s natural that when he errs, it’s on the positive side. The team always looks good when they are practicing against themselves. It isn’t until they actually get to try things out against an…[Read more]

Jeanty goes around 215 and Jordan was in the 210 range so they weren’t really small backs, just on the shorter side.
To your point though, one of the toughest backs to bring down while Utah was in the PAC was Miles Gaskin. Played at 5’9 and around 195. Averaged 1300 yards a year and never needed to be taken out for a short yardage back. The…[Read more]

There is that component also but I was just referring to the utility in going for it on fourth down.
Ludwig has been an OC for over 20 years and his patterns are very well established. The other team still has to be able to stop his offense and having a good idea of what he is going to call in any situation is only half the battle. Penn State,…[Read more]

In broad strokes, the studies say you should go for it when needing 3 yards or less on 4th down at any place on the field. Converting one 4th down that leads to a TD creates 7 points. You would need to kick 3 field goals instead of converting one 4th down for that to be the better option. And for every time you punt instead of going for it, you…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic NIL should be performance based. in the forum Football 3 months, 2 weeks ago
I’m in agreement on the incentives from a theoretical POV but I worry that in reality, it will be used as a cudgel to break the contracts. And, to be clear, I would love to see a model that works for everyone. I’m just not smart enough to see it right now.
Imagine a scenario where the QB’s incentive structure is based on pass attempts. The…[Read more]

We just need a contract system already where players can sign contracts with incentives like the NFL since it’s gonna happen sooner or later whether you like it or not.
I don’t believe that would fix the problem. No one can tell Patrick Mahomes when or how often he wants to put his name on something for compensation outside of his contract w…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Will the ASU game make or break this season? in the forum Football 3 months, 2 weeks ago
If two conferences losses is considered a deal breaker for CCG, then every game is now make or break. All winning this week does is put the same emphasis on next week’s game. Starting next week, it becomes rinse and repeat until the season ends or the math works for a 3 loss team to get into the CCG.

The problem isn’t the type of injury since pretty much everything has a known standard range at this point. If he who shall not be named until he throws a pass in a game again was a pro, he’d have been immediately put on the injured list for 4-6 weeks to clear a roster spot.
Instead it’s all been subterfuge and half-truths so that the injury is…[Read more]

Release point is about a foot too low. When Wilson (Isaac) is under stress, he reverts to the same thing which is why you see his ball miss either high or short.
Here’s the gold standard for QB throwing mechanics:
And here’s Rios’s HUDL:

Same mechanical flaw as Wilson so he will be a turnover machine also, if anyone let’s him in a game
