I have season tickets so I go to every game…yeah, it was a fun game to watch, if you were a neutral, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that it was a loss and that this team has systemic and coaching issues. The poor free throw shooting, for example, has been a hallmark of Smith’s tenure and is unexcusable.

I don’t know Wilson from Adam, but he doesn’t strike me as an intellectual specimen.

I was going to make a similar comment about Sharavjamts. It could be that after getting his game on tape, he’s been found out by the opposition. He was absolutely awful in the first few minutes of the first half, was pulled, and wasn’t seen the rest of the game. No muy bueno for Mike…it’s a tell that Smith has lost confidence in him. We’ll…[Read more]

If he leaves Utah, he’ll be one of those guys that we’ll never hear from again. The talent and physical tangibles just aren’t there.

Watching Utah play basketball this afternoon. Probably the worst half I’ve seen, well probably ever at the Huntsman. Utah is down 39-22 to Saint Mary’s, shooting an eye watering 23.5% from the floor and 50% from the line. It’s one of those games where the basket seems like half the size of the ball instead of vice versa. Performances like this…[Read more]

Update…Gundy agreed to restructure his contract. From what I read, the Cowboys are going to use the funds they recouped from the contract towards revenue sharing with the players. It will be interesting to see if the salaries of most head coach and, coaches in general, go down once revenue sharing is fully implemented.

Just me, but I doubt a two loss ASU jumps over Boise. I predict that they’ll be the #11 or #12 team and have to go on the road in the CFP. My brother tells me that State College is lovely in mid December. Gonna love seeing how Sparky does if they draw a cold weather team.

I don’t care if Wilson stays or goes. I’ve seen nothing from him this season that tells me he’s a must-have, generational player ala a Caleb Williams, etc…to me, he has the potential to be a serviceable starter but so do about a thousand other guys currently suiting up in the FBS. So, if he wants to stay and compete, great…if he wants to…[Read more]

The funny thing is that with any QB not named Rising, Utah probably beats ASU in Tempe.

Well, this is the pro football argument. Since time immemorial, NFL champs have been crowned without playing every team in the league. The sport is just too brutal to have so many games in a season.

I think Oklahoma State is comfortable doing that with Gundy because they’ve got a “cause for fire” option up their sleeve. Utah doesn’t have that option.

Yeah, money talks but it’s not like he’s getting a massive pay raise from New Mexico to Utah State. Plus he’s leaving a state flagship school for one that’s 3rd tier at best in Utah. Personally, I think getting a bump in salary plus coming back to Utah both worked to make the job attractive. Remember, that Bronco was retired and in his ranch in…[Read more]

I gave him three stars…hard to justify anything else given his background and experience. Hopefully, he proves me woefully wrong. However, if that happens, he probably won’t be at Utah very long.

I have to believe that he’s going to be playing somewhere next season. If he can show some team that he’s close to health by late Spring, someone will take a chance on him. Whoever that team is will probably rationalize to itself that it’s Utah’s fault that Rising was constantly injured and that it won’t happen in his next destination.

I read an article where he said the biggest reason for taking the Utah State job is to be close to him mom, who’s 93 years old. I’m guessing that as long as she’s around, Bronco will too.

For a neutral, that was one of the most enjoyable games to watch this season.

Bad advice? Maybe he thinks he can get a bigger payday somewhere else.

Just like Damien Martinez stayed at Oregon State until his final NIL check cleared and then immediately transferred to Miami the next day. When there are no checks (i.e. contracts) on people following their interests, this is what happens.

People with higher IQs and more world experience tend to be more pessimistic. They tend to eliminate the positives and accentuate the negatives.
