The Miami Ute replied to the topic I hope Wilson stays in the forum Football 2 months ago
I don’t care if Wilson stays or goes. I’ve seen nothing from him this season that tells me he’s a must-have, generational player ala a Caleb Williams, etc…to me, he has the potential to be a serviceable starter but so do about a thousand other guys currently suiting up in the FBS. So, if he wants to stay and compete, great…if he wants to…[Read more]

The funny thing is that with any QB not named Rising, Utah probably beats ASU in Tempe.

Well, this is the pro football argument. Since time immemorial, NFL champs have been crowned without playing every team in the league. The sport is just too brutal to have so many games in a season.

I think Oklahoma State is comfortable doing that with Gundy because they’ve got a “cause for fire” option up their sleeve. Utah doesn’t have that option.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Bronco to Utah State in the forum Football 2 months ago
Yeah, money talks but it’s not like he’s getting a massive pay raise from New Mexico to Utah State. Plus he’s leaving a state flagship school for one that’s 3rd tier at best in Utah. Personally, I think getting a bump in salary plus coming back to Utah both worked to make the job attractive. Remember, that Bronco was retired and in his ranch in…[Read more]

The Miami Ute replied to the topic New Poll: Rate your excitement level for new offensive coordinator Jason Beck in the forum Football 2 months ago
I gave him three stars…hard to justify anything else given his background and experience. Hopefully, he proves me woefully wrong. However, if that happens, he probably won’t be at Utah very long.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Thank you, Seniors! in the forum Football 2 months ago
I have to believe that he’s going to be playing somewhere next season. If he can show some team that he’s close to health by late Spring, someone will take a chance on him. Whoever that team is will probably rationalize to itself that it’s Utah’s fault that Rising was constantly injured and that it won’t happen in his next destination.

I read an article where he said the biggest reason for taking the Utah State job is to be close to him mom, who’s 93 years old. I’m guessing that as long as she’s around, Bronco will too.

For a neutral, that was one of the most enjoyable games to watch this season.

Bad advice? Maybe he thinks he can get a bigger payday somewhere else.

Just like Damien Martinez stayed at Oregon State until his final NIL check cleared and then immediately transferred to Miami the next day. When there are no checks (i.e. contracts) on people following their interests, this is what happens.

Would be a nice pick-up.

People with higher IQs and more world experience tend to be more pessimistic. They tend to eliminate the positives and accentuate the negatives.

They were pretty bad in their last visit to SLC in 2006. Of all the games I’ve been to, the only opponent fan base that beats them is BYU.

Boise State is a glorified community college. It’s UVU teleported into Idaho. Their academics suck, which is the reason they will never enter any P4 conference not called the Big XIi. The name “Boise State” is radioactive to any university that values academic prestige.
I don’t hate Boise State but I did find the attitude of their fans…[Read more]

You answered your own question. The “committee” is just looking for any excuse to insert Bama into the CFP. If SMU loses to Clemson, say hello to the Tide.

Free throws have been a bugaboo for the Smith-led Utes for the last couple of seasons. At the Arizona game last season that Utah lost in 3 OTs, the Utes shot 47 percent from the line. They shoot just 50 percent, 50 percent!!! and the game doesn’t even go into OT. There was also a close loss to ASU in that same homestand where the Utes only hit…[Read more]

I don’t know about that. Marion is seen as the leading candidate for the HC job at Sam Houston State. Even if he does come to Utah, he’s an up and comer and you might only have him for one season before he takes a HC job somewhere else.

Same here…I’m hoping all of the underdogs win and sprinkle some shit in the CFP’s rice bowl. Would love to see how the “committee” handles an 11-2 SMU after a loss to Clemson. They’re most likely out so that Bama can get its foot in the door.
