Cool. Then I look forward to all of these new plays Beck has in his arsenal that no other offensive coordinator in the history of football has thought of before.

Why do you think Beck will have a different playbooK? Ludwig claimed to have over 1,000 plays in his book. And with the availability of film on every team, I don’t really think that there is a whole lot of “new” to be found.
I’m of the opinion that all coordinators are drawing from the same well. Each coordinator has different ways of dressing…[Read more]

They ran RPO schemes under Ludwig.,,
The overall playbook will be the same for Beck. Where there will be a difference is in the sequencing of calls and hopefully a “dumbing down” of the reads to allow the new QB the ability to take advantage of his athleticism. I’d also like to see a lot less predictability between personnel packages,…[Read more]

After Bryson Barnes made him run to his mommy and cry, I think your #1 has been accomplished in perpetuity.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Woods to UCLA in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
I think the problem hasn’t been the players not stepping up but the people in charge of letting them play. In my opinion, WR and RB are the two positions that are the most transferable from HS to college in terms of being ready to play immediately. And these were also the two positions where we continually heard that kids weren’t ready because…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Rose to UMASS in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
Moving to the MAC next year. Don’t know if that will be an easier schedule than they’ve had as an Independent.
If healthy by next fall camp, Rose should have a pretty good chance at QB1. I don’t know what the expected recovery is for Lisfranc since I believe it’s dependent on which or how many of the bones were broken. Barton was able to…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Status of Utah football in the forum Football 1 month, 2 weeks ago
By rule, the Winter portion of the portal is closed to new entries. The exceptions to the rule are:
1) Kids who have reached graduate status can enter at any time
2) Kids whose season has not ended yet have 5 days after their team has played its last game
3) When a Head Coach takes a new job or is fired, kids have 15 days to enter their name…[Read more] -

the problems of 2023 & 2024 were because the coaching staff wasn’t motivated? or just normally motivated but not highly motivated?

Lie is a bit strong. I think it’s natural for a kid who’s waited 3 years to get his chance to downplay his pain level, especially if he’s been given medication or anti inflammatories (sic?). Adrenaline, just played a good half, natural instinct for an athlete to not want to admit you can’t go.,,
The medical staff needs to be allowed to look…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Kickers in the forum Football 1 month, 2 weeks ago
It’s hard to have faith in a kicker until they prove it in games.
Becker was supposed to fix the problems with FG and kickoffs, got hurt 4 games in, and both were a problem for two more seasons. Matt Gay didn’t win the job out of fall camp in 2017 and then made 30 of 34 after Chayden Johnston missed the first try of the season.

He’s in a tough spot. Maybe a game’s worth of so-so film over 3 years, coming off an injury that affects mobility. I would guess that if he hasn’t already been picked up somewhere, his only options may be at the FCS level.

You keep getting downvoted because you don’t understand Capitalism but blame it for everything you don’t like. “Unfettered Capitalism” is just Capitalism with an unnecessary adjective in front of it to make the speaker sound impressive. Just like Raw Milk is Milk.
Sports leagues by definition are Marxist, not Capitalist. Equal distribution…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Utah Lands Breakout Utah State Transfer WR Otto Tia in the forum Football 1 month, 3 weeks ago
The bar is pretty low for what a WR transfer to Utah needs to produce. When you consider that two kids this site loved who transferred from Syracuse ended up with the same total catches that I did.,, But I ended up with less picks so maybe I should let Whitt know that I still have eligibility?

2008 National Champ replied to the topic The first round of the playoffs was really boring in the forum Football 2 months ago
It’s only proof that in those specific circumstances, one team scored more than the other. It’s a single data point and the outcome is no more predictive than if I flipped a quarter, it came up heads, and I proclaimed to the world that it was proof that every time a quarter was flipped heads would be the result.
Did the “better” teams win? Or…[Read more]

The score of a single game is the silliest argument for “deserve to be there” and that it still exists after ~ 30 years of BCS and CFP means that people still don’t understand the difference between Best Team and National/Tournament Champion.
Blowouts happen in every sport, in every competition and are 10 times more common than exciting…[Read more]

If we just limit the evaluation of the portal ins/outs to recruiting rankings, Utah is down across the board from the “deepest and most talented” roster Whitt has ever put together and it’s not even close. We won’t get a true indication of whether the staff and the ranking services are better at identifying talent the 2nd time around until August…[Read more]
