I think the more accurate assessment is that we aren’t quite deep enough to win against good teams when four or five of our best players are out. CPIII missing created a glaring hole in coverage and Cam + Kincaid being out kills our playmaking ability.

I was at the Alamo Bowl and it was very similar on the defensive side of the ball having Johnson and Blackmon out…it’s a drop off from our 1’s to our 2’s until we consistently win (and keep) more talented recruiting classes

To be clear, I don’t agree with perpetually riding the negativity train.  For me it is a question of moving from scrappy underdog to regional/national powerhouse.  It has been discussed as nauseum that Whit is a great motivator for the underdogs, which probably correlates somewhat to his success in developping underrecruited players, but we would hope to see a shift towards “expecting to win” both on the field and in recruiting battles.

This year, it looks we have turned a corner on both which is fantastic.  We are on a very positive trajectory.

They had 5 different receivers average over 11 yards a catch. I dont think we were just conservatively giving up short routes. Vaughn got burned several times…

Harlan will have a lot of goodwill built up from overseeing arguably our most successful period across our athletics department – conference realignment would have to go really poorly for that to change…

At minimum, imagine this guy running a few triple option plays in third and short situations with Ty and another RB.  Shoring up that glaring weakness in our game planning would be worth the transfer alone.  Not sure if it will ever happen, but one can hope…
