The TCU and Arizona lines are depressing. Combining for 17 against those two defenses at home is why Ludwig is gone.

But I’ll update it anyway. Here is a selection of game-by-game points given up by our opponents this season (I’ve added TCU and updated each line with last week’s results):
– Baylor vs P4 opponents: 23, 38, 34, 43, 35
– USU vs FBS opponents: 48, 38, 45, 62, 50, 50
– OKState vs P4 opponents: 31, 22, 42, 38, 38

He was making comments even in Sept about being on the fence. Things have really gone downhill since then. My gut feeling is that he really wants to leave on a high note (which is why he came back after both Rose Bowl losses), but it’s also likely he is starting to realize that not every legend gets a storybook ending, and that’s okay.

Everything is fluid right now. Will we start scoring more than 1 TD per game with Bajakian calling shots? Will Whittingham actually give him full reigns like he says? Will guys who should be more involved start to get more involved? Was Ludwig really the problem? Is Whittingham done after this season? If so, who does Scalley have lined up for…[Read more]

Ghost of the HEB replied to the topic Another example of why chasing recruiting battles in the forum Football 1 month ago
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the vibes just have to get better all around the program. Not only do we desperately need a W on Saturday, but we really need it to be high-flying with a lot of guys getting involved and having fun playing for Utah.

Ghost of the HEB replied to the topic Isaac Wilson vs. Sam Huard not considering Brandon Rose (just a feeling) in the forum Football 1 month ago
Huard led Cal Poly to a 1-7 record in the BigSky. It’s easy to get enamored with the 5* recruiting ranking, but there’s probably a reason he ended up at the FCS level and then a crowded Utah QB room.

If we learned anything from 2023 it was that we HAD to have a viable offensive plan ready in the event healthy Cam was not available. We have the best WR we’ve had since Carrington in Singer, seasoned vets in Money, Pittman and Mcclain (who is healthy again), the deepest TE room we’ve ever had, one of the best O-lines we’ve had in terms of…[Read more]

Ghost of the HEB replied to the topic Handling of QB situation in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
I mean, anything is possible in this day and age with unlimited transfers and bags of cash. I haven’t heard anything to make me think he or his family are talking about that right now. He was just given the keys to the offense with now lower expectations and plenty of weapons to work with. In regard to the possibility of IW transferring to…[Read more]

Wilson’s parents were notified the night before OSU that there was a high chance Isaac was the guy. So it wasn’t entirely out of the blue 20-minute decision but still handled poorly if you’re trying to set up a true freshman to succeed.

Ghost of the HEB replied to the topic Things that baffle me in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
– Don’t know why they insist on not playing King, but he’s unhappy with it. And now that losses are rolling in, he and others who are unhappy with their lack of reps are definitely rocking the boat.
– I was also surprised by the lack of Lohner. He had the only offensive TD against AZ, and if your QB isn’t accurate then you could use a big target.…[Read more] -

Yes, money is returned if the player doesn’t end up playing.

Vegas still thinks so, and they’re on this stuff like a hawk. All of the available Utah passing prop bets are for Cam, and it wasn’t that way earlier in the week.

Ghost of the HEB replied to the topic Utah at ASU – By the rankings in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
Overall, yes. But they have a slightly better RZ TD percentage than us.
We’ve had 22 RZ attempts with 11 TDs (50%). ASU has 24 RZ attempts and 13 TDs (54%).

Ghost of the HEB replied to the topic I swear, if Cam doesn't run onto the field for the first posession. in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
He could trot out there and play like the last time we played at Oregon, which was ugly. But Cam’s pre-snap understanding of defenses and command of the offense are miles ahead of IW’s. Being a 7th-year grown-ass man helps a lot when it comes to keeping defenses honest. Arizona showed you can stack the box and blitz the hell out of Isaac, and it…[Read more]

Ghost of the HEB replied to the topic How good is ASU? in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
Should we be worried? Unless time of possession starts counting as points, I’m very concerned about our ability to score enough to beat a team with a decent offense. There is definitely potential for this game to look reminiscent of last year’s Oregon State.
However, the Friday night forecast is looking less cloudy than it was on Monday.

I don’t think God himself knows when/if Cam will take another snap in a Utah uniform. All we can do is make educated guesses based on what happens during the week.
