Their QB threw 9 touchdowns against a PAC-12 defense a week ago. Holding him to 1 TD and very few yards is a massive W — regardless of how bad their defense is.

Blackmon was in perfect position on that 71 yard schoolyard bomb. He just took a bad angle and whiffed on the play.
Which is incredibly frustrating because there were multiple of those plays against BYU that he played perfectly. It’s almost like the moment was too big and the lights were too bright for him.

I agree that there’s historical reasons to worry, but I don’t think Slovis has proven anything that makes him this elite QB that will only have one bad game. I’ll be shocked if he doesn’t play. I think Whitt making it seem up in the air is a bit of gamesmanship. Keep USC guessing who’s gonna be back there.

Having a better QB than them was the difference in 2018, too. Luckily for us, that QB is still our QB, and USC’s new QB just got exposed by TDS.

Having watched them dismantle Hawaii, I have a hard time ranking them that low. Eason can absolutely sling it, and their defense looks very fast and athletic. Even though they lost a game, they still held Cal to 10 points. They easily could be undefeated still.
