As happy as I am with Utah Football I am equally discouraged with this Basketball team. I know they are young. I know they are just getting used to one another. Something is missing. They seem like they are out of sorts and uninspired. Sure hope they turn it around quick or it will be a long season

My experience has been not to make too much of the first week of football no matter who plays who. It takes a week or two for things to start making sense. We could be last years experience or we could be 2008’s experience. I know which one I hope shows up.

Gee Pace I wish we all as smart as you. From the period of 2004 until 2009 (whit was there both years) The utes were undefeated twice and beat Alabama….oh and they were not even a p5 at the time. Stars are over rated anyway….they never measure a players heart. I look at our great athletes and the stars never mattered. Reference Alex Smith, Brian Johnson, Wide, Booker, Weddle or in hoops Van Horn, Miller, Wright, Kuzma…etc. The Stars matter but they don’t measure heart , desire or coaching.

Another great story from the “66 final 4 was Jerry Chambers. Utah lost in the Semi’s but in those days they played
a consolation game. Despite not winning the national championship Chambers was named the tourney MVP

Great story ….loved the Magician…..as well as Jerry Chambers on the ’66 team. Another great story academically is Andre Miller but not the same kind of career ending but a long and successful NBA career

Another comical thing is over 1/2 of the people participating in the poll think the team fell short of expectations. That has to be personal expectations because the team to this point has done almost exactly what the experts predicted they would do going into the season. Excited to go to Las vegas this week and watch the Utes play a couple of Basketball games. And on Friday we at least will become bowl eligible. This Football team will respond bigtime on Friday.

I don’t care who is coaching ….the coach didn’t turn the ball over 7 times….and you aren’t going to win when you turn the ball over 7 times. That loss is on the players not the coach
