TX_UTE started the topic Superstition be Damned in the forum Football 1 month ago
Superstition be Damned, and so against a very odd superstition I inherited from my old man (God rest his soul) I’m wearing all my Utes gear today to try and switch things up for this long season’s finale. Anyone else on the Ute Hub board got interesting game day superstitions, and if so, anyone like me switching them up today?
And as always, Go Utes!

TX_UTE replied to the topic There is a real chance the Big 12 misses the playoff in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
My thought is that somehow CO makes the playoffs – attributing that to the “Coach Prime” effect and boasting 2 of the top 10 picks in next year’s NFL Draft…and as a side note, the hot rumor here in Big D is that Coach Prime is the next Cowboys coach and you can guess who their 1st round pick would be. Why else would McCarthy be selling one of…[Read more]

TX_UTE started the topic Alpha Male Syndrome in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
So my opinion of this season is that if CR was truly the Alpha Male that KW always said he was in that not only was he the best player at his position that he also made everyone else better that the coaches bet too much on an often and seriously injured player to play all season and elevate the overall team…having said that, I’m very glad that…[Read more]

The entire ESPN Game Day crew save Herbstreit picked BYU, with Herbstreit noting that rivalry games like this is what CFB is all about. Good omen?

TX_UTE started the topic Not Surprised in the forum Football 2 months, 1 week ago
I’m personally not surprised at the FB team’s struggles this year, as first, the offense was built on the assumption of a pre-injury CR skill set, which didn’t get to be fully implemented for obvious reasons, and second that the transition to a new conference with different travel, unfamiliar match-ups, etc., is always a challenge. That said, I’m…[Read more]

KW is known as a very loyal coach to his players, sometimes to the team’s detriment, IMO. Keeping CR playing after he was clearly injured reminded me a bit of KW keeping TT as the #1 running back when he clearly wasn’t as committed as he had been his first season. I think “resting” CR for the rest of the season so he can heal up for the combine…[Read more]

Thanks for the post, Virginia Ute! We’d like a Padres-Tigers series, as my wife is from MI and the reason we support SD is bc she went to school (K-12) with their 2nd baseman’s dad!

Great post, Jim, very balanced and well reasoned – how the heck am I suppose to overreact to that? 🙂

BC it’s not a “Fire the Coach/The season is over post” as one often sees after an unexpected loss…

I will admit that I haven’t watched the game yet as I DVR’d it, but having said that, here’s a potentially unpopular take on the loss to AZ after reading about the game and several related Ute Hub posts:
First, Utah always seems to have at least one “WTF” loss per season, with the exceptions of 2004 and 2008, and in 2008 there were games that…[Read more]

Exactly, Hellhound152 – Article is intended to be a weekly tongue in cheek recap of the previous weekend’s CFB results but still nice to see the national media taking note of the Utes!

From Monday’s USA Today article “College football Week 4 overreactions”:
Just send the Big 12 trophy to Utah
With the win at Oklahoma State in the bank and the Sunflower State contenders fading, the Utes are clearly in the driver’s seat in their new conference at this early juncture. The remainder of their schedule looks quite manageable with o…[Read more]

TX_UTE started the topic OPI in the forum Football 4 months ago
Watched the NDS-CO game and watching the PSU-WV game to try and get a bead on some of the Ute’s upcoming competition this year and new B12 conference mates. Does it seem to anyone else that OPI has been deemphasized this year? I saw several egregious missed calls during the CO game and one at the end of the PSU-WV 1st half. With the new 2 minute…[Read more]
