  • Invented the horse-drawn seed drill, and also wailed on the lute; what a guy!

  • You mean Jethro Tull the band, fronted by Ian Anderson? I was a big fan of them back in the day, but haven’t listened to them much in the last few years. Perhaps I should revisit them.

  • The beavs are at their best when they’re wet.

Watching the highlights, Hauati Pututau had a sack on Bowers. It’s clearly #41 who got the sack and Bill Riley says “Pututau got him!” and yet he isn’t credited with a sack in the box score. Anyone know why? I’m pretty sure the play didn’t get negated by a penalty, but I can’t remember for certain.

He also went by Jeremiah Jordan. He was a JC transfer, DE. Came in with some hype last year but was injured and never saw the field.

  • Harding fits all three of those. I know Harding was co-OC before, but that “co” is a pretty big caveat. I think Roderick had more of the reigns in play calling at the time. I think a good scenario would be Harding to OC with final say, and bring in a QB coach who can add input to the passing game. Call him a passing game coordinator if it…[Read more]

Bama oversigns and forces unproductive upperclassmen out of the program to make room for more recruits. Following is my post from a previous thread. Follow the links and have a look for yourself.

““15.5.6.1 Bowl Subdivision Football. [FBS] There shall be an annual limit of 25 on the number of initial
counters (per Bylaw 15.02.3.1) and an a…[Read more]

You keep stating that the rest of us don’t understand recruiting, but offer no facts to back up your statement. The fact is that DI programs can sign MAXIMUM of 25 “initials” a year, but can only carry 85 scholarship players at a time. So if a program has 75 players still on Scholarship after a season, they can only bring in 10 more. There is…[Read more]

Well then, why don’t you educate us with some facts. Like these: “15.5.6.1 Bowl Subdivision Football. [FBS] There shall be an annual limit of 25 on the number of initial
counters (per Bylaw 15.02.3.1) and an annual limit of 85 on the total number of counters (including initial
counters) in football at each institution. (Revised: 1/10/91 effective…[Read more]

It sounds like three RMs for sure, Johnny Maea, Semisi Lauaki, and Keaton Bills, with a possible fourth, but it’s uncertain.
Another thing coaches can do to dance around scholarship limitations is to ask a guy to greyshirt, or to give a guy preferred walkon status with the promise that they’ll get a scholarship as soon as one becomes available,…[Read more]

Well, it does, mostly. You can only have 85 kids on scholarship, so if you have 85 one year, and only 12 kids leave your program after that year, than you can only bring in 12 more the next year. In reality Whit has stated that they normally only have 82-84 guys on scholarship because of the nebulous nature of recruiting, transferring, injuries,…[Read more]

  • One factor to consider is absolute age; Fotu and Anae are both only 20, so they have plenty of time to mature and improve their draft stock. And neither is so dominant that the NFL is drooling over them right now. For that reason I was surprised Chase didn’t enter the draft last year, but maybe his draft potential wasn’t great, and he really…[Read more]
