I attend as many spring scrimmages and practices as I can including the Spring Game, with the Spring Game being the least interesting of them all. But the scrimmages are great, and really help pass the time. But when they are over, there is a big black hole in my love of football until fall camp.

I had the exact same impression of Blackmon when I heard the interview. Dang that kid talks well, is intelligent, confident, and respectful. Seems like a model of what you want your college-age kids to sound like.

The author, Doug Robinson, has written a few ridiculous articles in the past few years. He wrote just a month after the Utah/BYU Las Vegas bowl that Utah was not BYU’s “big brother” and that BYU was still the better program. Although a year and half later in Sept this year he wrote that BYU and Utah had reversed themselves and now Utah was the…[Read more]

Sucks that a rule that is made easy for the official to call may just cost the Steelers the Super Bowl.

BD replied to the topic Eric Rowe with the game winning deflection! in the forum Football 6 years, 11 months ago
Yeah. That one pised me off severely. It really looked like he made a move with the ball to make sure it really crossed the goal line, which would assume control, and hence it would be a TD as soon as it crossed the line, so what happens to the ball after that isn’t important. But the ref didn’t see it that way of course.

I had the same concern coming into the start of the season. I thought the kicking would be terrible. I attended several spring practices and the kicking wasn’t very good. What an improvement.

BD replied to the topic Chip Kelly to UCLA? in the forum Football 6 years, 11 months ago
Sounds like rumors are flying around. But it seems nothing is in writing yet. http://www.bruinzone.com/fb/messages/99831.shtmlI hope he goes elsewhere and UCLA hires somebody who runs a pro style offense. I think the Utes match up better with pro style rather than Chip Kelly style.

Good post and I agree. I was pissed after last night’s game but mostly because it felt like bad luck. Kind of how you feel when somebody smashes your car. Utah will be better next year. The video at the bottom of the page you posted is a short one-minute video of Washington’s defensive backs coach. He seems to say he had his hands full preparing…[Read more]

BD replied to the topic We had more offensive yards than WSU tonight. in the forum Football 7 years ago
Wazzu had a short field frequently so that leads to lead yards. However the defense held them to less than 4 yards per play, which was less than we had. That is a better stat in this type of game. So your point is good, it is just that yards-per-play tells the story better than total yards.

BD replied to the topic I may be the minority in the forum Football 7 years ago
The defense played very well. Kyle said in his interview that the defense allowed less than 4 yards per play. That is excellent. And he said that pass efficiency was excellent. Lets give the defense credit. With the ridiculous numbers of turnovers they could have given up with excuses. But they didn’t. I seriously doubt Utah wins at Washington…[Read more]

Utah ran a few offensive formations that we haven’t seen. Maybe they just needed practice.

Leach is so awesome. One time he was briefly interviewed at halftime when his team was playing terrible defense and had allowed a lot of points. The interviewer asked “What does your defense need to do in the second half?” Leach responded “tackling the guy with the ball would help”. Then he promptly ran off to the locker room.

I wonder about Whitt. Bringing the Utes out of the MWC into the Pac-12 must have required an incredible amount of energy and anxiety, both physically and mentally. The first several years, having to compete with MWC talent must have been terribly difficult. Even now, with recruits that are average at best in the conference is still difficult. I am…[Read more]

ASU beating Washington is amazing enough. But Washington without a point in the 4th quarter is stunning. It could definitely be a real dogfight against ASU.

I agree about the D. The lack of sacks this year is really concerning. And, good grief, that 3rd quarter was painful.
