GameForAnyFuss replied to the topic Why no G5 would ever deserve a shot at the playoffs. in the forum Football 7 years ago
I would. All 5 P5 champs, 2 P5 at-large, highest-ranked G5/independent (I would include Notre Dame in that group…they need to join a P5 conference or be counted as any other G5…they’ve lived off their “tradition” long enough).

Of course you can; you can do whatever you like or feel however you like. But the personal dislike of Urban doesn’t resonate with my experiences with him. I always found him to be a stand-up guy. I know many fans don’t like the noises he made prior to leaving, but really they were no different than what any of us would say about our current…[Read more]

I can understand not being able to stand THE Ohio St., but a Utah fan not being able to stand Urban? I just can’t figure out that line of thinking. He completely changed the trajectory of Utah football. Without him, we’re in the MWC today.
I know a lot of people don’t like how/when he left Utah, but I don’t see that making him worthy of our…[Read more]

It’s not difficult if you’re a BYU-P coach. You just look for what position you need help with, see which missionaries play that position, get them an honorable early release for “medical reasons”, and then have them miraculously healed in time for spring ball.

As a person who works for the University, in a department that touches a lot of businesses and other schools, let me tell you that the academic/scholastic benefits of the PAC12 are massive. More than I ever could have imagined.
We could lose every football and basketball game by 40 and I’d still thank God every day that we’re in the PAC12.

GameForAnyFuss replied to the topic For some reason, not signing every in state recruit is a knock on Utah's in the forum Football 7 years, 1 month ago
It does mean something…it just doesn’t mean everything.
We all know Utah doesn’t sign large classes because of our unique RM situation, and that hurts our recruiting class rankings as compared to other schools. So the graph doesn’t mean much in terms of absolute values. But it IS useful in comparing Utah’s yearly classes against each other,…[Read more]

GameForAnyFuss replied to the topic Jack Tuttle appears to be a great get for our Utes. in the forum Football 7 years, 1 month ago
I’m curious: Does anyone have any stats on how many 4+* kids who hold offers from their local P5 school end up going somewhere else? For example, how many 4+* kids from LA end up someplace else besides USC or UCLA? I bet it’s not a small number.
Not that we shouldn’t do better at in-state recruiting, but let’s be honest: Some kids just want to…[Read more]

I get what you’re saying, but I disagree on a couple of points. If you’ve never been a D1 athlete it’s hard to understand what I’m saying.
1. Unless you came out of high school with an insane amount of credit, you’re not going to graduate in three years (at least, not in a real major) while doing everything expected of you as an athlete.
2. You…[Read more] -

We’re focused on the wrong thing. The real story here is that he felt like he had to leave school because he feared for his safety after quitting the basketball team. So BYU-P fans, being the “shining lights on a hill” they are, threatened violence or death to this kid because he wouldn’t play basketball anymore? Keep on rockin’ that righteous…[Read more]

GameForAnyFuss replied to the topic Utah MBB at byu – What do you know? in the forum Basketball (Men) 7 years, 1 month ago
True, but Butler has so much better guard/wing play than BYU-P it isn’t funny. Butler’s quality at other spots more than makes up for their lack of size. Can’t say that about BYU-P.
I still think this comes down to Collette, Rawson, and Jayce. If they can get Childs into foul trouble, Utah wins by 10. If not, it’s anyone’s guess.

It’s a toss-up for me.
Advantage Utah: Size. BYU-P is undersized and can’t compete down low. Expect us to pound the rock inside. If Collette and Rawson play like actual big men, they will get BYU-P’s lousy excuse for a center in foul trouble and Utah wins.
Advantage BYU-P: Home court. Their fans are so desperate to beat Utah at anything – and…[Read more]
