^This.
We have a ton of in-state talent and most of it ends up at UVU. It’s turned them into a perennial top 25 program in just 5 years. Utah needs men’s soccer badly, especially being in the PAC12 where there are so many powerhouse soccer programs.

Remind me how this map works?
BTW, I question the validity of any map where a .500 Breed ‘Em Young team has so much territory. We Mormons haven’t possessed so much land in the midwest since before Liburn Boggs was governor. 😉

Meh. I’d rather have the bye and get slighted in the polls than the opposite. If we don’t win out, all the discussion of rankings is just academic…and we’ll need Huntley healthy to win out.

Meh. I’m just going to revel in the offensive onslaught for a while before I try to figure out what we know about this team. I mean, I think tonight we scored more points than we did in the entire Majerus era.

Well that was fun….
Here’s a couple of records for this game:
Most points scored in a game (143)
Most points scored in a half (73)
First time with two triple doubles in a game (Gach and Jones)
Largest margin of victory in school history (94)
Largest margin of victory for a D1 vs. D1 game in NCAA history (94) -

Nedum Onuoha and Zack Moss are two guys on the top of their game who both came to Utah via interesting paths. And they’re both a hell of a lot of fun to watch. Great podcast!

And let’s make no mistake: The PAC12 invite set the table for this. It’s been so positive in every way – and I’m not talking about sports. The difference the PAC12 has made in our educational and research missions is palpable. And obviously the timing suggests that the new mental health center announcement is what pushed us over the edge.

A couple interesting factoids:
There are only 65 AAU member schools in the country.
There hadn’t been a new AAU admission since 2012. -

You beat me to it! I was in a meeting. Anyway, here’s the text of Ruth’s email to staff.
Dear colleagues,
I am thrilled to share with you some very significant news for the University of Utah: We have been invited to join the Association of American Universities, the most prestigious association in higher education. AAU requires its member…[Read more]

Couldn’t agree more with everything that’s been said here. Carlson is going to be Utah’s next star big man. Love the way Jones handles the ball and sees the court. When the going gets tough, we’ll rely on Both and Timmy to pull out games for us…and I think they can do it. Jury is still out on the rest of the newcomers.
The only real negative I…[Read more]

I’ll make anyone on this board a deal. If you will give me your unused tickets, I promise I will:
1. Be there at any time.
2. Be there in any weather.
3. Cheer and scream as loud as I can.
4. Never boo the Utes.
5. Be in my seat 30 minutes before gametime.
6. Not leave until the team leaves the field. -
GameForAnyFuss replied to the topic U of U receives $150 million donation for mental health institute in the forum Misc 5 years, 2 months ago
As an administrative employee of the U, let me reiterate: The benefits of being in the PAC12 go so far beyond athletics. In fact, I would say that what you see in athletics is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the benefits of PAC12 membership.

The beer is flowing like wine up here today. This is a transformational type of donation. This new center will be to mental health what HCI is to cancer and will be a huge boost to the University in general.
