My guess is Daniels will eventually be a Ute. Can you say transfer portal? In my experience, usually the will of the child eventually wins over the will of the parent. Anyone who’s a parent knows that, when your child really has his or her heart set on something, eventually it will happen.

He was my roommate at the U 95-96! He was the straight up nicest guy – very soft spoken and kind. Super homesick his freshman year. Had a penchant for eating all my food. He played a mean guitar too…he would have the other Hawaiian players over and they would sing Hawaiian folk songs all night.

Exactly right. Most kids out of high school are aching to experience some independence and try to “make it on their own”. And that’s easier to do away from home.

Sigh…why do we always lose the best in-state talent?

What cracks me up is he goes after us like we have some effect on recruiting. Like every time he says “we need to recruit like Alabama” or “we should hold Whit accountable for poor recruiting”, I’m like “ok, sorry, I’ll get right on that.” Talk about barking up the wrong tree…

Utah weather is downright balmy compared to the upper Midwest. Doesn’t seem to affect their recruiting.

Weather is not an issue, no. But culture (or rather, perceived culture) absolutely is.

My guess is, someone thinks football is all that matters and all the Olympic sports should be dragged into the street and shot. And therefore they’re not worthy of being reported on.
